What is this thing?

'67 safari.
It's on top of the main frame rail near the tongue. It's 2 or 3 in. diameter and spring loaded. What's it for?

I believe it is the inside portion of an old leveler. The 2 floating levels would sit in a plate on top covered with a plastic cap. They are still sold today at any trailer store.
Regards,
Randy

There are 3 fairly stiff springs in between.
I've seen those 2-way levels. I can't imagine this is part of one of those, but so far, I can't come up with a better explanation

I believe the 3 screws & springs let the user calibrate the base so that this level would match a bubble level placed in the fridge. Once adjusted, the user only had to drive up on boards and use the tongue jack while watching this level. No need to run in and out to check how level the fridge was.
