Could anyone help me with the exact location of the vin number on our 1966 Safari. CA DMV require the number to be in 2 locations, the door tag is there but I cannot see anything on the frame at the front. Thanks in advance.
Our 66 Safari only had the serial number on the emblem just to the right of the door. If you have that, look at the numbers which will identify the make, model, length and sequence number off the production line. I know some had numbers stamped on one of the tongue main frame members, but ours didn’t. The serial number is all we’ve ever needed. Good luck
CA will just have to work with you on this one. There are so many vintage Airstreams registered out there I'm sure they'll figure it out. As said, early model's didn't always have them in two places. We've had 4 60's trailers and never found a second serial/vin #.
The door side plaque should work. You can also print out Airstream archival documents that talk about serial numbers to help you out.
