Front frame crossmember replacement

I have removed the floor from the front of my 68 and found that the front crossmember is severely rusted. Does anyone know if this part is available anywhere, or if I should just plan to make a replacement?

Thanks,
Darren

You need to replace it and the part that goes up the wall that connects to the cross member.

Thanks for the quick response Perry. Do you know anywhere that I can get replacements for for those parts?

I think you are going to have to make them or have them made. What is the cross section of the beam? Document and then try to find something close that will work. Members TOP (Lance) and 62Overlander (Frank) might have more information for you.

The beam is shaped like a "U" or "C" facing back towards the trailer. At least that is what it looks like with it still installed. I was thinking that making the part would be the only option.

A metal supplier or weld shop can probably fix you up.

Once I searched for "metal hold down plate" I came across more info on this. Looks like custom making it is my best option. I will take your advice and check with a few metal suppliers.

Thanks again.
