Counter Top

Build and install new counter top, used more three quarter inch plywood for top. The new formica laminate is much thinner than I recall.

Kitchen Sink

New Blanco round sink was built in Germany and under clips are unnecessarily complicated, have to change screws to some with hex head to get torque necessary to install

Overhead Cabinet Stretch

Rebuilding overhead cabinets, copying existing and stretching 1.5 inches to fit the larger refrigerator installed.

Krieg pocket hole jig is invaluable for making new face frames.

This is our first attempt at repairing vinyl covered doors, Diane did an excellent job putting doors back together.

We found that our kitchen table is the most comfortable work area.

Install our first overhead

We drug our new overhead out to the trailer and wrestled into place and used our Krieg screws to lock into place along with #8 sheet metal screws into aluminum skin.

Wired new light fixture into bottom of cabinet and it is starting to look like something.

Refurbish old exhaust fan

Refitted the old exhaust fan after my finishing specialist (Diane) repainted the exhaust fan housing with appliance paint.

Installed new push button switch to replace the old turning type switch, Diane found new magnets for door and cleaned filter with HVAC coil cleaner.

TV Mount on new wall

We installed Cheetah TV mount on new wall and reinforced wall with 3/4" plywood on backside.

New cable wiring from Jack antenna and DVD player along with 120V outlet line up horizontally behind the arm of Cheetah mount.

TV mount will swing around and make TV visible from rear of trailer.

Finding Space for a Pantry

The 1968 came with a control panel reflecting the "Space Race", we decided to revamp this space for our pantry.

Diane continues to be the finish expert, here she is filling my nail holes before staining.

We designed a "cute" set of doors and new control panel that meets our needs along with a small piece of counter top for our coffee pot.

More Pantry Build

The little doors are inside the right side of the pantry giving access to back side of wiring for control panel items.

Working in the kitchen workshop again, we test fit cereal box and cans for shelf height setting.

Pantry Installation

Slipped new pantry into place with new welting around edges, could have left a bit more room for welting, but we got it in.

You can see how the little doors inside provide access to electrical wiring.

On the control panel area we are beginning to put in tank level monitor (Garnet SeeLevel II Tank Monitor)

Diana finds a Kitchen Rail

Diana found a kitchen rail that she really wanted to install in the trailer, problem is that it mount with a slide on installation, and I have to be the one to tell her that it will probably bounce off during movement of the trailer.

So, we came up with this modification to installation, it is now firmly affixed to wall.

Water Tank Installation

We are reusing the old water tank, after leak testing for two days and pouring two gallons of bleach into tanks and holding for the same two days.

Polished around exterior fill cap and polished neck, installed with four stainless steel screws.

SeeLevel tank monitor glued to side of tank.

Water Tank Enclosure

Duplicated water tank enclosure, had to sand to fit around curved doors, even though we cut new doors to match the old doors.

We made vertical wall out of 1/2" plywood instead of 1/4" plywood for added stiffness.

Shurflow Water Pump

Installed Shurflow water pump in the space allotted (1 cubic foot space), we did not have the room to install 36" flexible hoses before and after pump.

Installed 12" braided plastic tubing on suction side and 12" braided steel hose on discharge side.

The Pex over the top if for filling tank from "City" water connection.
