'67 Safari VIN/GVW plate

Hi folks,
I just bought a 67 Safari and can't find the VIN plate. I'm sure there has to be one somewhere besides the nameplate next to the door??

Also, I'm just curious; Does anyone know what these trailers cost new in '67?

thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve:

I looked in my Owners Manual "A guide to trailering in your 1967 airstream". It refers to the model & serial number plate on page 15 of that manual. You are correct, it was located next to the entrance door. My manual does not refer to any other location on the trailer.

I don't know how much our trailers cost new. I purchased mine 10 years later and paid $5500 for it. I took it to a couple of dealers for different things + advise. I was told that I had paid $2,500 too much for it!

I've had most of the problems that are discussed here on the forum. And, I've done most of the repair work myself. It's still on the road, and will last me the remainder of my lifetime. Just put new tires on + new refrigerator this summer. I've have had a lot of enjoyment for the money I've spent!

Steve.

If it's a 66,67 or up to the late 80's, the serial number plate is below the side window, forward of the door.

Thanks guys. I thought maybe there would be another plate somewhere with more info on it, such as the GVW rating. I was told I need to photograph the plate in order to transfer an out of state title. I'm in Pa. but the trailer came from MI. I guess I'll photograph the nameplate forward the door and send that in. The title already states the GVW as 3450 lbs., so maybe that'll be good enough.

As for the trailer itself, it's totally gutted. (I bought it that way) I'm planning to turn it into a food vendor.

Thanks again.

Thanks, Lee.
So, it looks like the only id is on the nameplate forward the door.

I have been told that sometimes Airstream etched or stamped the ID on the inside rail of the tongue. This might be a wild Goose chase thought...

Usually the serial number is also stamped into the top of the A-frame, on the curb side, very near the LPG bottle rack.
