Does anyone have a plumbing diagram for a 1968 Safari Twin? I could also use a few pictures of how the blackwater tank is connected to the system, trying to put mine in so I can put last floor panel back.
Hello from Colorado: Welcome to Air Forums and the vintage Airstream hobby. I did extensive work on a 66 Trade Wind. Below is the plumbing diagram for that trailer. I think the 68 Safari will be similar. Plumbing is like wiring; you run it where you need it.
The black tank in my 66 Trade Wind was a joke. The thing was just 3" deep. It had a very low rear discharge port. My owner's manual talked about digging gopher holes to empty the tank. The tank is U shaped to make room for the dump valve and could not drain completely. My tank pan was completely rusted out toast, and the tank itself was cracked. The heavy old mechanical toilet was shot also. Gray water just drained on the ground. We've come a long way since those Airstream days.
So here are a couple of photos that may help you in your project.

Here is a screen shot from the 1968 Airstream Owners Manual. This should be the waste diagram for the Safari Twin.
The black water tank isn't really tied into the rest of the waste system which is grey water. The toilet sits directly on the black tank. The only other fitting is the drain of course.
Hope that is what you are looking for.1968 Airstream Waste System Diagram.JPG

That's exactly what I needed. Now if anyone has a photo of the waste dump configuration, and where the pipes from the kitchen sink and the lavatory pass through the floor I would be a happy man!

The pipes all stay above the floor until they are right over the top of the waste valve area. In your trunk there will be a cut out of the floor where the pipes drop down the the waste pipe. So even the lavatory sink pipe runs above the floor, across your rear trunk. I may be able to snap a photo of mine later. I am glad the diagram helped.
Another question. We put inner skins back up and I noticed that there's no hole for vent pipe above the kitchen sink, although there is a hole in the outer skin for one. Is the vent pipe inside the wall somehow? What happens if I don't have that vent pipe hooked up? I'll still have 2 rear vent pipes. I hate to have to open up wall to put vent pipe in.
The galley sink vent pipe on my 75 Overlander is indeed between the exterior and interior skins. Both the shower vent and the black tank vent pipes are between interior walls.
The photo shows the shower vent pipe located between the bedroom and bath walls. I have removed the "shower wall" and I'm making a new one.

On our 1967 Safari the vent for the sink is concealed in the closet between kitchen & bath so bath lavatory and kitchen sink share the same vent.
