and anybody else that is interested. I have pics of that trailer that I could send you, more $$$ to get it shape than I have right now though. It's a major project, very cool though and if not for my current project probably would have tried to get it.

Its a 1954 Sarfari as per vin# O- 6035...so it was the 35th Safari made that year in Ohio.

The trailer has three broken windows, small dents in three corners, rotten plywood floor, replaced vents on top but after market, the fridge and heater are original. Not much of the original interior left. Shower added to the watercloset, half of the dinette set is missing.
Major cut/dent in outside skin on the crubside above wheel well, and no title/pink. Looks like there is a alum. patch on outside skin behind each wheel well.

I made an offer, but the lady/owner thinks it is worth more than I offered. She said, she would call me once she goes to DMV to clean up the paperwork.... I'm not holding my breath on this one.

Like you Mr. Hoot, I have my hands full right now with the Old Girl. But for some reason I knew that you had been here before me.....

Today I continued working on the diner booth... cut 1 1/2" angle aluminum to use as structural support. Cut and removed another small section of Allure Flooring under the right side seat, I will replace with diamond plate. Slow going, but moving forward, and that is always a good thing.

I like that pocket screw guide.. I've been searching, something like that or the Kreg. I like the idea of the pocket screw... just have to go get one! Well, and get the guts to gut my Argosy and rebuild the cabinets and the seats.

I kinda had to chuckle when looking at all those framing squares in the shots. I KNOW Airstream didn't use anything like that when they "built" the cabinets and the dinette in my Argosy... "just get it looking about right" was their motto I'm sure!

Mr. 3.... You're so right about the original cabinets, not being very straight. But, what can you do, "It is, what it is". Also, the walls around the wheel wells are very uneven, on the street side the trailer wall bows out almost an inch.

I learned alot from building the kitchen cabinet, (9 1/2' long countertop)...I had to do alot of readjustments to the aluminum frame work, once the countertop was put in place. Hopefully, I won't make the same mistakes on the crubside.

Your photo, was that taken in Westwood, Calif? They have a Paul and babe statue in their city park just like that...

Continued working on the Diner today... Using 1 1/2" alumimun angle and 3/4" plywood, I completed the inside supports for the diner seats. Looks like it may rain thru the weekend, so I got everything I need for tomorrow's task, cut out.

More pics of today's work... it's hard to believe, but I used more than 40' of 1 1/2" angle alumimun for the diner framework.

Today I cut out the rest of the Allure flooring under the left side bench/seat. Replaced with diamond plate, and did some minor adjustments to ensure both seats are in alinement with each other. Going to a pot luck dinner, so I must sign off....

Today I sanded the side sections of the diner booth with some 220 grid sandpaper... then brushed on two coats of natural color stain, (Deft).

Plus, here is a photo of the 4” polyfoam, I'm using to upholster the seat cushions.

Looks good Rex. I used Defthane on my floor boards. They make some good stuff. Nearly all the Aircraft paints we use are from Deft or Henkel coatings.

Thanks TOP....Trainer of Personnel. That's good to know, concerning the Deft stain. I like it because you can brush it on, and the 2nd coat melts into the 1st, (the wonders of a chemical reaction).

In the PM, I started the trim work for the 1/4" plywood front-foot-kick, for the diner....

Hey Mr. Was... looks like you're moving right along with your buffing project. When you stop in Redding on your big "drive-about"... you can buff out the Old Girl to a shinny sheen.

The foot space is a little tight, but I only had 7 feet to work with. The bigger issue is the wheel well, (it takes up alot of space), but I think it will work for us. floor space under the diner is 28" x 13", so you would have one foot in the hallway and one under the table.

What kind of fabric do you and The Bunny have in mind for the cushions? Although the foot room seems small, I think it will work out. You just end up sitting with one foot in the isle. Ours is a little crowded, my wife just makes me sit outside at the picnik table!
Just watched the 10PM weather, looks like you have more rain coming. We are expecting 8 inches of snow. The weatherman says it going to be wet and heavy like mashed potatos. Yahoo!
Check with The Bunny first, but I think if you would wear your red socks with the flip flops they would really look like lobster claws. Have a good one.

You funny guy Mr 63, I think The Bunny wants Red leather or Red Vinyl, to give it that retro-diner look...I would be okay with the left over Tommy Bahama fabric, (The stuff we used for the sofa). But I do think that red cushions would make that area "POP"! Like this pic off the web.

Diner is looking good, Rex. Especially like the lacquer finish you're using. That is a really good product.
