The weather people say it's going to rain by Mon. nite. So, today is "Cleanup Your Damm Mess" day. I have a Wal-Mart tent in the backyard, and it is/was full of old interior airstream parts.
I plan to keep some parts, (mostly alum. parts), but the rest is going to the dump! Not a fun day...but it has to be done. Lunch is over, so it's back to the coal mine.

I think HF has one for about a buck fifty. Was going to check it out if mine ever went belly up.

Today the Bunny, Captain Kirk, and I rode out to Hirz Bay campground on Shasta Lake to meet with Bob & Nancy. They just purchased a 27' Terry 5th wheel. Bob found it on Craigslist in Idaho, so he drove there last week to pick-it up.
Hirz Bay is one of the largest campgrounds on Shasta Lake...over 50 sites, two group campsites, and a Boat ramp giving you access to the McCloud arm of Shasta Lake. It's a USFS campground, but managed by the Shasta Recreation Company.

Thought I was using the generally accepted vernacular from what I have read here in the forums.
Saw a 3000# electric trailer jack in the Feb circular for $150.00

Thank-you for the tip, Babyboomers. I will check it out today on my way back from the dump. I was 5 munites late last Friday. So I've had a full load in the back of my truck all weekend. You're most likely right on the vernacular, I just havn't seen it before. How's your project going?

Well.... the False Spring is over, and it's rainning like Dogs & Cats Yes, winter is back, and I have mixed feelings about the change in weather. I guess it's time to put the skateboard away.

Working on the sofa today,"Fine Tuning" the foam to fit in place without conpressing each other. Hopefully, the fabric will come today. I found a upholstery shop that has much better prices. So, it pays to shop around.... Looks like I am saving somewhere around a $1,000 on the sofa, compaired to buying an "RV" sofa sleeper. I will post photos in the PM, if I take any of interest.

Today I installed supports for the storage compartments on each side of the sofa. Then cut the arm foam to fit the contoured sides of the Airstream. In the PM the UPS guy delivered the fabric. Moving forward on the sofa!

Todays task was to upholster the two arms of the sofa, using the new "Tony Bahama" fabric, the Bunny ordered off the internet.
I have an old Adler sew machine that I purchased from a Smokejumper 25 years ago. When I first got the machine, I used it to make Web belts and knife cases, (I would sell them to 1st year firefighters). The last 10 years, I have used it to sew biker patches and repair leather vests and jackets.
Anyway, this is the 1st time that I have done any upholster work... I dropped off the two big cushions at one of the local shops in Redding. So, I am having the pros do the two large parts of the sofa, also got some foam to use for tomorrow's project.

Looks very nice. Like the diamond plate aluminum in the galley. A lot of work to sew all that I'm sure. Are you re using the original foam?

At this point my project is in the "thinking about it" stage. Will soon head into the "make a material list" stage, and then we will rapidly head into "revision scope of work" stage. At least that is what my daughter and significant other say my projects go.
I will tell you that it is scaring the heck out of me the more I read the forums. This could take forever and cost a boatload of money!

I know what you're saying... I feel like I have a full time job again, and yes the Old Girl is a money hole. But the more I do and learn, the more I love it. And we are really looking forward to our 1st. Airstream rally @ casini ranch on the Russian River.

It may seem like a boat load of money, but think how much more it would be if you had to pay someone to do all the work you've undertaken. Just think of the satisfaction you'll have as you use and enjoy the Airstream. It's really hard (or impossible) to put a value on that!!

It's not a boat load of money it's a yacht load(land yacht that is).
Before I started I talked with a shop about having mine done professionally. I won't name the shop but they are very good and do wonderful work. The initial estimate was 1000 to 1500 hrs labor at $65/hr. Yeah $65000 to $97500 plus materials. You can understand why I'm doing it myself.
