This last Friday night was the first "Friday nite at the park", for the summer in Shasta Lake City. The Bunny & I, Greg & Terri, plus Porno Bob all met up at the downtown city park.

The band, "Uptown", was great. I went to High school with them, so its nice to see them still playing together. Three brothers, plus two make up the band. They play 70's cover music...

I didn't take any photos, but Terri emailed this one to me today. This guy had some dance moves... you couldn't really call them "Jazz Hands", more like "Cat Paws"! But "Ghetto Boy" could "Cut a Rug"!

This coming Thursday, The Bunny and I are going to Durango RV in Red Bluff CA. Its approx. 30 minutes south on I-5, from where we live in Shasta Lake City.

The Redding Elks RV Club is hosting a Chile Cookoff... and The Bunny is entered as a contestant. Should be fun, and it's our first outing with the club.

Durango RV is listed on the Web, as one of the best RV parks in California, and is located just off the freeway, so if your looking for a good location for a stopover, when traveling thru California, Durango may meet your needs.

The pic is from their web site, and is a "Pet Waste Facility"...

Hey Mr. Lew...did you find the hinges, you were looking for? Not sure about the pet station...but I would guess that they want you to pick-up your dog doo! It's a very "High-End" resort, so one should follow the "Rules" or get the boot! It's a good thing my biker friends are not going...

Last weekend we had a "Change of Plans"...we didn't go to Durango RV for the chile cookoff. I took a fire assignment to Superior Az. on the 257 wildfire, as a Documentation Unit Leader.

The fire was short term because the operations folks put the fire out with the largest Airtanker in the world (DC10 tanker from California), Helicopter bucket drops, and hotshot handcrews inserted on the ground by helicopter.

I ended up working in ground support as a driver, because the Fire Management Team already had a Doc. Unit Leader.

I camped in my 60 sec. tent out in left field, on the baseball field at the local high school, which was used as fire camp & ICP. I was told to setup my tent in the day time because of all the Fire Ants.

This coming weekend is The Bunny's birthday, (June 22). So we are going to Rolling Hills & Feather Falls casino's...Thrus @ Rollings Hills & the rest of the weekend @ Feather Falls.

Pics of the Helibase, DC 10 airtanker, and the ground support crew...

Cool! Thanks for posting these pics Rex. The DC-10 tanker must be a sight to see in action. Have a great weekend!

I have always heard about the old retired fire dog that heads straight for a fire when he hears the siren and sees the truck flying by, but now it is confirmed! Seriously, thanks for your service in working one of the many fires going on in the West. I'll bet sleeping in your own bed, or in the Airstream is a lot more comfortable than in your tent on the hard ground, as well as Bunny to keep you company instead of the fire ants. Hope you have a great weekend and that Bunny has a great birthday.

The Bunny and I just got back from Feather Falls Casino. Over the last 2 weeks we changed our reservations a couple of times, (because of my fire assignment). So we lost the party site, (site 43), at the KOA @ Feather Falls.

We still managed to have a good time without the party site. The food was good, the beer is still cheap...$2, but the gaming was unforgiving...the net total was a lost for the both of us.

Indian Mike and Cris camped Saturday night, so they could party with the Birthday girl. I didn't have my camera with me... so I will post some photos, once The Bunny emails them to me. So far, I only have one pic from The Bunny , which she snapped at Rolling Hills RV park Thurs. night.

You're right Mr. dirgible, sleeping in a tent is not as much fun, as sleeping in Rita. Plus, I forgot to load the two most important items in my "Tent" camping gear bag...my pillow, and an air pump for the air bed. So, I ready didn't sleep very well that first night, out in Left Field. The next day I was able to buy both items at local "Dollar General" store...more like the $12 store.

Here's one more pic from The Bunny...it's of Mike and The Bunny at the KOA on Saturday night. The Bunny said that she didn't like any of the rest of the pics, so this is it for this trip!

I understand about the "REJECTED" pictures. My wife, Shelly, is the same way. She even sneaks onto my computer and deletes those that she deems as unworthy, or bad hair days, or what-ever.

Will follow your posts as they come -

Dennis, or as you put it in more formal terms, mr. dirigible:-)

Hey Dennis...hope your day is going well. The Bunny has an account here on the forum. She doesn't post much, but does look at what I post, to ensure that I don't post any photos of her that she hasn't "Screened".

I think our next trip in Rita, may be a short one, (7 miles from home), to the Elks RV in Redding, to watch the fireworks on the 4th...The other option would be, to have a pool party at home, and watch the fireworks from the hill above us. This is OK, but it is 7 miles away.

Last week I had to cancel our stay at the Elks RV for 4th of July, because I took a fire assignment to Billings Montana. I'm working on the Ash Creek fire as a Documentation Unit Leader in camp at Colstrip, MT. Hope to get home soon, maybe by Friday or Saturday. Camping in a 60 sec. tent is not as much fun as staying in Rita!

Lots of history around here...I wish I could go on a road trip and see some of it...like Little Big Horn, etc.

Here's some more pics of the fire and camp....staying in a tent for 14 days, is not my idea of camping anymore! But, it would have been a three day drive to pull Rita to Fire Camp.

Sleeping on the ground for two weeks has gotta be tough. Don't think my back could handle it any more. Stay safe.
