The Aluminum Falcon

Today was day 1

Way back up in the woods , 20 feet from a lake , on state park property she has sat for 36 years. Deciding on how many trees to cut to get her out. I could really use a floating dock to extract her.

Very dirty, frame is shot, but not a mark on her, all panels and windows are good. Found the awning stored under her.

Yeah, but can she make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs?

Wheels are shot as well.
New tires show up tomorrow, guess I need to hurry up and order some wheels too.

Sure looks like you've taken a very large bite; be careful to chew slowly and throughly so as not to choke!

I tend to do that..
I have restored a number of cars in worse shape so I know how bad it can get.

My current plan is to weld in a new A-frame back to the cross bar , install new wheels and tires, and use my truck to back the airstream off the property and up to the main road where a flatbed hauler can take it home for me.

Once I have it home I will gut it, lift the shell off, build a new frame, install new axles, and install a new floor.

This a good thing because I like the idea of a floor plan change.

Pretty much anything can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 units of measurement...

I figure if you're gonna make a nerdy joke, I'm gonna make a nerdier rebuttal

As for you Darkspeed... tsk tsk, going off and making everyone else's projects look trivial. Seriously though, good luck.

Okay - where is Wesley Chapel? I want to come watch!!! I'm freaked out about some rear rot and you seem to be taking it like knocking back a cold one. ???? What's the interior like? Able to salvage anything in there? Cheers to you!
Laura

And, oh yes, the girl comes with the shirt - just like this guy comes with the trailer. But it will likely cost us!

No long-distance journey can be made in a straight line. The 72 trillion miles that Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon achieved shattered the old record by well over 10 trillion miles. Countless times Falcon proved to be the ideal light freighter with which to find the quickest route throughout the universe. "She's got it where it counts." Her ability to navigate closer to black holes and to avoid stars, planets and asteroids through hyperspace, thereby traveling the least distance, arguably made her the "fastest" ship.

A light-year is a unit of length. A light-year is the distance that light travels in a vacuum in one Julian year (365.25 days), roughly 6 trillion miles, or 0.3 parsecs. Measuring the Universe | IAU

Hi Laura,
I learned long ago you can't ruin anything, you can only change it's state of of existence in the universe as you perceive it. So if you don't get it right the first time take a photo of it so your friends have something to laugh at, then take the cutting torch to it and do it over. As they say fear is the mind killer.

I'm just north of Tampa , was down your way last week and acquired quite the sunburn at the beach.
