Howdy.

Arrived in Arkansas last evening. Fired up Atwood Water heater (AWH) on gas.

AWH gas fired, ran for a few minutes, then the RED light came on and stayed on.

Cycled the electric auto light switch to clear lockout. Turned it on and it would give red light then turned off then red light again and burner shutdown.

I repeated several times in frustration, walked away.

I removed the igniter and it was carbon fouled and pretty oxidized. I cleaned with an Emery board I swiped from my wife's purse. I also removed gas mix tube and cleaned. Reinstalled.

AWH fired up nicely. No problem!

Ran errands and got home then tried AWH again. Lit nicely. Walked away and wife told me a few minutes later "The red light is on!"

Turned off AWH switch for 10 minutes, no problem!!!!!!

Appears to be problem with igniter/flame sensor...?????

Any thoughts!

Cleaned up igniter and verified heater tubes clear for gas and air flow.

Worked intermittently.

Replaced igniter assembly, all is right again!
