Asbestos

I am gutting down a 1969 Sovereign (31'). Shall I be worried about the presence of Asbestos. The trailer had it's floor tiles removed when I purchased it and I was reading that the floor tiles may have had asbestos...I am gonna be taking out all the interior skin, insulation, plywood...bascically everything down to the outer shell...is there any areas that may contain asbestos that I should worry about?

Only other area that may have some would be around the furnace and furnace pipe connections. I doubt you will find any, but that would be my guess as to where it could be hiding.

If the floor tiles were broken as they were removed there is probably some asbestos fiber pretty much everywhere in the trailer. I wouldn't worry, but I suppose you could get a test kit and check the air for the presence of asbestos if you want. The kits cost several hundred dollars.

If it has the original furnace, it might have some around the areas were the pilot light assembly goes into the combustion chamber, as well as the inspection port in the same area. Very small gaskets, in the range of 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" long. The fan assembly for the combustion air may also have a gasket made from the material, I am not sure. I think the gaskets to the exterior exhaust were made from spun glass, if used at all.
