Window repair in New Orleans vicinity?

Some criminal broke into my '64 Bambi II by breaking in through the
back window, bending the frame, and messing up the crank mechanism
which closes the window.

Anybody know of a good repair shop within a couple hours' drive
of New Orleans?

Hoping to find somebody who can professionally (but not expensively)
polish her for me.

Thanks,
Julian

Welcome to the AirForums! Glad to have you with us. And I feel your pain. Less than 16 hours after I purchased my Airstream Interstate, some vile miscreant broke out the passenger-side front window and stole the Kenwood head unit from the dashboard, doing about $3500 worth of damage in the process. Classic smash-and-grab.

Unfortunately, can't really help on the window. My window was a stock Sprinter window, which meant I used an automotive glass company.

You may want to crash-wrap the broken window to keep weather out until it can be fixed. Any local auto glass company can do that much, cheap.

But as far as fixing it is concerned, you might want to call Foley RV in Gulfport, the nearest Airstream dealer. They've done good work every time I used them for anything on my Airstream. It's a little over an hour's drive but it may be worth the trip for you.

And, New Orleans being the hotbed of crime that it is, you may want to invest in an alarm system for your trailer to prevent a repeat occurrence. There are some nice ones on the market that will even send an alert to a smartphone when they go off, in addition to the loud alarm horn.

The cranks and gaskets are available from Vintage Trailer Supply, the frame will need to be straightened and the corners re-welded. Any glass shop can cut glass.

When it comes to polishing, usually 'Professionally" = "expensive"

Window repair in New Orleans

What a bummer!
We are just down the road from you. Both children are in New Orleans and crime is too high there.
Anyway we just brought our trailer to Foley RV in Mississippi today to have more awnings installed and a few minor repairs done.
It's not too far if you would rather not tackle it yourself.
BTW was your trailer at home or elsewhere when it was damaged?

Thanks so much, everybody, for your input. I talked to a man at Foley in

Gulfport today, and am taking my Bambi II (her name is Moon Pie) over to him

on Friday. He says it should be a pretty easy repair. Thanks again.

She's kept inside a garage at a secured facility, but was parked in front of

my house for just ONE night when the miscreant broke in.
