How do I get into this latch to rivet in back in? I can't figure out how it comes apart but know it must.Click image for larger version

Not sure but could it have been riveted from the inside before the door was assembled?

They are a puzzle. It comes apart if you push the slider hard enough. Only problem is I don't remember in which direction. When you finally get the bugger open the little spring likes to go flying and you have a good chance of breaking the 45 year old plastic. They also are not fond of going back together but I have successfully done it. They are no longer available. Inland RV sells a replacement which is aluminum and plastic and larger.

Good info. HOWEVER, make sure you put a rag or something over it while your prying it apart. On mine the slide sprung 10 feet one way and the spring at least the same the other. Never found the spring!

Screen latch

That’s an awesome thread on how to replace the black plastic latch.
Note I had bought this part that is included with the door latch kit.

Good luck, not crazy about the one that comes on our screen door. Never wants to stay tightly shut.

There are many to choose from. Try a different style?
