I rebuilt my vista views earlier this year. Had new acrylic inner panes made and, after a great deal of struggle, got them reassembled - with the split ring (that was a bi-otch). But my attempts to fix the plastic frame that holds the sliders were unsuccessful. I could probably remove my wall skins to provide better access to properly glass the old, broken frames but.....
I bought some new airstream vista view closeout panels and am in the middle of trying to retro-fit them to my trailer. These new panels have a rectangular geometry incorporated which allows for adding more traditional blinds. Unfortunately, it is not a "one-to-one" fix. The closeouts were only available for 30" vista views. Mine are 18" and 40".
I had to remove the original plastic slider and slider frame. This was more dificult than anticipated and, after some consideration, I left 50% of the frame in place and removed only the portion needed to expose an area that matched the new closeout panel. Used my new rotary tool for this work and then sanded the edges.
I also needed to enlarge the orignal VV hole a couple inches to match the geometry of the new closeout. Here's some of the cuts I'm making. Really hate cutting the inner skin but now I've "committed".
Here's a few pics for now. I'll post more as I progress...
