The following regards a 2010 Airstream Sport 16. The screen latch broke two years ago so I bought a replacement latch. However, since receiving the latch I've not been able to figure out to install it.
It came assembled with a cotter pin holding it together. It seems to me that there should be a spring arrangement in the mount on the door but cannot figure out what retains the latch once the spring is installed. There doesn't seem to be anything within the latch housing on the door for the spring to impinge upon and nothing to retain the latch within the housing. The only way I can find to retain it is with the pin but there doesn't seem to be anything other than holes. Putting the pin in any of the holes makes the latch immovable.
