Interior door skin

Hi,
I have a 1976 Argosy. We had to remove the interior upper skin on the door to repair some damage. We are having a problem with putting the skin back on the door. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to best do this?
Thanks

It might help if you could describe the problem you are having with getting the skin back on. If it is a matter of the holes not lining up, it sounds like your door frame was warped, sprung, or otherwise only being held in shape by the inner skins, and when they were released, it changed shape.

If this is the issue, the first thing I would do is try "dry-fitting" the door to the door frame and see if it is a good fit. If it is not, then bend the door as needed until it is a good fit, and then check to see if the holes line up on the skin. IF they don't then you may have to drill new ones.

good luck!

The door has a metal frame that has a groove that the skin goes in. I am having a difficult time getting the skin to go back into the groove. When I get part of it to go into the groove, another part of the skin will pop back out of it.

I don't recall having any particular trouble getting my skins back into that groove when I reskinned my door. It might be that your skins were originally cut a little bit undersized so that they are more inclined to pop out with the slightest mis-alignment. I will stick to the advice above, though--probably a matter of your door changing shape, and it may need to be twisted or tweaked in order to get everything lined up as original.

good luck!
