Interior door latch plate unscrewing
Hey all. Noticed the upper and lower screws on the right of the interior black plate of the door latch popping out by almost a quarter inch. Screwed them back in. A couple of questions:
- How tight should I screw them? Don’t want to strip anything. Didn’t overdo it. Just stopped when I felt resistance.
- Is this normal because of the shaking and twisting of the road? New Bambi 22FB that we got last September. Stored for the winter and have been out with it about a dozen times. Have also had a screw holding the sink fall off and the frosted plastic piece that separates the bedroom get loose. Again, to be expected?
Attached a photo of the plate in question after I screwed them back in.
Thanks for the info.

Photo didn't come through, but I do have a suggestion in any case. When screwing into metal, Locktite or similar brand can really be your friend. I suggest the removable type (usually blue colored). When screwing into wood, you can find plenty of advice on this forum about filling the screw hole with toothpicks and glue, trimming that off when dry, and then reinserting the screw. If the screw hole in the wood is not stripped, a drop of super glue on the screw can help keep the screw from backing out on its own.

Thanks. Thought of Locktite. Wasn’t sure I should use on a latch as it is a moving mechanism but I guess those screws shouldn’t be moving.
I’ve attached the photo again. Circled in red are the screws that were loose, popping about by about a 1/4 inch.

No, those screws should not be loose. They hold the inner plate with the handle in place. You can tighten them down quite hard without stripping, so you might not need Locktite on them.
Before you do that, you might want to look at this thread: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f45...ht-133974.html. There are links in that thread leading to more discussion about the door handle.

Locktite is okay as long as you use the blue Locktite (removable) only use a tiny dab. Inexplicably, the blue Locktite comes in a red tube.
On mine, these screws come loose. If I tighten them too much, the lock doesn't work. Too loose and the outside looks like water could get in.
They're getting some Locktite for sure.

Blue locktite in red tube. Bothers me as well. Maybe more profits they can afford a second and third tube color. Blue, medium strength works best.

Just ordered on Amazon. Bought the blue... And you're right, it would be simple to match the tube color with the name but no, it's red. Not intuitive.

Hello, had this same situation. The most wonderful tech Russell at the mothership replaced the screws with slightly longer ones and some locktite. No more problems.
