Help!!! Locked out of '74 Tradewind
Please help, we have a 1974 Landyacht Tradewind with the original door and lock. It is locked and nothing we seem to do will unlock it. Does anyone have any suggestions? We need to get in it tonight!

Ventport,
Thank you so much!!! We called Andy and he gave us some advice. The door is open and it looks like we are going to need to ship it to him to get a new lock or have it rebuilt or fixed. He was very helpful.
Thank you for the quick response.

Please clarify--you are shipping the entire door? Seems rather extreme, if you are. The latch assembly can be removed, replaced, or rebuilt--I would suggest replacement with something modern and the hole patched.

A new KT 200 lock, as I am sure you found out, is very expensive. Andy does have new ones and a cheaper work around kit.
If the door is open it would not be hard to take the lock off the door.
I would first check with a local locksmith. It would be a lot cheaper if you brought the trailer or lock to him.

Unfortunately, locksmiths don't have Airstream parts for the KT lock.
At best, they might be able to help with a tumbler, but that's about it.
The design of the KT lock, as most of us know, is far removed from any other lock. The closest one ever was the Bargman L-400.

Update, sent just the handle and lock from door. Received kit from Inland RV on Friday. RV Revive installed and we are ready to go. Thanks to all and especially Andy!
