Gutter nail hinge pin? 69 Overlander

Hi folks,

I'm new here & have really enjoyed - and learned from -all the posts and replies! I'm starting on a fully gutted 1969 Overlander 27' & after removing the insulation, next step is waterproofing. Forgive the dirt, it's been too cold to pressure wash yet in VA - but it appears the PO used a gutter nail for the bottom hinge pin on the door, or am I crazy? Why is the top pin sticking up so far? How do I access the hinges to adjust them? And my screen door is gone :-( At least the door is intact & has not been disassembled; original rivets. Any insight appreciated. Thank you!

-Rebecca

PS, The 5th photo... no way that exterior door latch is original... or is it?

The rest of the pics are door gaps I hope to correct.

Hot dog, I found the screen door with some other parts out back! I am sure the added support within the hinge will correct a lot of the problems when reassembled, but would still be interested in whatever others may have to contribute. Thanks friends!

Welcome to the Forum. I would agree that it looks like a gutter nail has been used as a hinge pin. The original pin would be one piece from top to bottom and not sticking out at either end. The door knob is original but the sliding lock bolt is not. I don't believe there is any adjustment in the hinge itself, but others might reply with more information about that.

Good luck with your restoration.
