Curved front side window
Shattered curved street side window on 20 ft 1980 Caravelle Airstream. Tapped glass with strapping tape inside and out for temporary use. Being a 7 ft wide I couldn't find a replacement so did it myself. Used punch for a starting point for drilling ou all 38 rivets with 3/16 drill
Then pounded out strip holding side of window frame not having any rivets. Cleaned out broken glass and all putty. Pried frame out and made template out of poster board. Used .22 thickness Acrylic piece from Home Depot. Cheaper than lexan not available in thick enough piece without ordering it. It doesn't yellow as easily I learned. Cut piece using fine blade on saber saw which worked well. Took some tries to get piece right size by fitting it into frame several times. This is after removing two small screws holding frame together and leaving film on the acrylic piece. Also used blow dryer in the sun to help bend into frame. Used silicon on frame for final fitting. Used 5/ 32 Olympic shavable rivets and cut off remains with drummel and also Used to sand off to look most like original rivets. My Caravelle has less curved area on the front side windows than on the Argosy Minuet so is easier to replace I believe.
