Bargman L-100. Now what?
I have the L-100 on my Cayo. It's in working condition but is clearly worn and since I'm planning on camping fairly extensively I don't want it to fail especially if that results in a lock-in or lock-out.
Replacements are still available but are costly. Reports are the quality, which was never especially high on these, is lower than it was originally due to deterioration of the tooling towards the end of the production run.
Any advice? Particularly:
- If I keep this are there particular parts I can clean, inspect, lubricate, adjust, or replace that will prevent a failure?
- Is replacing it with another L-100 likely to provide a satisfactory solution?
- If I replace it with something else, what locks are the best candidates to consider? How extensive are the modifications to the door and strike?
