upgrade SeaLevel II to Bluetooth

have a 2016 23FB, was looking to somehow get the tank monitoring system (Sealevel II) bluetooth enabled so I can monitor from phone. Has anybody swamped out the original unit with a bluetooth enabled one? I see they make one, but not sure if it's backward compatible. Hoping not to replace sensors.. just monitor..

I replaced mine with the Bluetooth version. Really handy when dumping or filling tanks. Click image for larger version

Have you any information on this product?

https://www.garnetinstruments.com/seelevel-soul/

I’m hoping to be able to entirely ditch ditch the current display? Will I still want Bluetooth?

This I think will tie to your Victron?

was it an easy retrofit? just replace old monitor and keep sensors from old one? Also, I noticed tank monitor. how does that work? did you have to purchase a sensor for that?

Was it a simple swap for you? Anything else you had to change?

I bought the unit from rvupgrades.com. Only $99. However, it does not work at all. I plugged it in and nothing. Doesn't even come on.

Makes me wonder if the unit I got was DOA. Maybe that's why they sell them so cheap. Defective batch?

Any way, did you have to change anything else in the system for it to work?

Answering my question! Turns out the upgrade is not completely plug and play. The order of the wires in the new pigtail don’t match the pigtail from the factory. So, you have to map the sensor wires to different ‘pins’ on the connector. A call into Garnett confirmed that. And I downloaded the wiring diagrams for the P3 unit, the old, and the BTP3 unit, the new. Was easy after that to splice and heat shrink the wires. Now works perfectly. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks, something to add to the upgrade list. It appears the only Bluetooth model is the one with an LPG button*? Was it pretty simple to figure out the wire mapping? Otherwise, I will hit you up sometime in the future.

*I suppose I could hook that up to the auto-destruct.

Correct. They only have one BT model and it’s got an input for an LPG sensor.
You can just leave it unused.

Mapping the wires wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be but it’s not complicated. The only small hurdle was the wire colors of the new pigtail and the wires coming from the tank didn’t match.

So, I downloaded the wiring diagram of both the old and the new display from Garnett’s website and matched the wires using the position of the wires on the connector. The diagrams tell you what each connector position is (12V, sensor, etc.).

But do hit me up if you encounter a snag!

Can you post a link of the wiring diagram you used?

I found this one but wanted to confirm it’s the same one you used.

This is the correct diagram. My only word of advice is to not only rely on wire colors as the wire colors of the pigtail from the factory didn't match the diagram in my case. So, I did not match wire colors but connector positions. Makes sense?

Gotcha.

Do you mind posting a picture of your wiring diagram?

I have nothing more in the way of wiring diagram than the official one you posted. The way I did it is with the diagrams in hand, I identified which connector was what on the old and the new unit and tied the wires accordingly. Again, I did not match the colors but rather the functions.

For example, if the first connector on the old monitor is power and connected to the red wire but on the new it is the second connector and brown, I connected the red and brown wires together.

I can unscrew the unit and take a picture of how I matched the wires. Does not guarantee it will be the same in your unit but happy to if it helps. I should be at my AS later today or tomorrow latest.

Ahh!

That’s the same method I did this morning and got it working.

It’s not at all intuitive based on what Airstream wired to the display.

I attached a picture of how my wiring worked out. The picture with the spade connectors is the final layout.

The original wiring is with the white connector.

Great to hear. Now that it’s installed, enjoy! I tell myself what a great upgrade this was every time I do tank work!
