Thetford valve T handle repair

So I was doing the dirty deed and when the Thetford valve rod reached the top (open) and the handle broke. The valves were replaced in Tucson about 5 years ago and have always been hard to pull up. Unfortunately it is not a threaded end - it is a ball end. The manufacturer pressed the plastic T onto the rod. The T is now in two parts.

Anyone had experience gluing one of these back on? Devised another way to pull up on the rod with anything other than a vice grip?

Get or make a T-handle. All you need is something with a hole in it the size of the actuator rod then drill a hole through both and put in a split pin or something similar to hold it on there.
