Removing the black tank and piping directly to the sewer.

I've been tossing around the idea of not re installing the black water tank in a 1974 29' AMBASSADOR.

I've searched the forums for a answer. And the same answer keeps popping up. Don't remove it cause it will ruin the resale value of the AS.

The airstream is staying in one spot after it is remodeled as guest suite. No plans on using it as a rv or boondocking. it is gutted and i'm not installing any of the original interior and making the bath room larger than it once was. so resale value is not a concern.

It has a rear bath and I'm having to replace the 3/4 inch plywood floor because of rot.

I would like to hard plump the toilet to the sewer. Is it feasible to use a rv toilet with a pee trap with inline vent or some other contraption? Or just install a small residential toilet?

I'd probably go small residential toilet. Seems like mating things up would be a little more straightforward.

If you get a chance look at a "park model" trailer for ideas. They are set up for direct discharge for both gray and black water using residential toilets.

Your going to want a residential toilet if direct to sewer. An RV toilet does not provide enough water to get things moving down the line.

Any residential toilet is fine, which will require water to flush correctly. The waste line to your sewer, cesspool, or septic system, will have to be pitched per the plumbing and building codes, and the distance of the horizontal run is of course one important factor.

In a sense you don't have a "trailer" in your yard, you have a "guest cottage" with an aluminum structure and skin.

A composting toilet would work too, but that solution is just as labor intensive to maintain/empty, as it would be in a real road-worthy Airstream.

Your choice, but the first suggestion above is much simpler over time [IMO], if your location permits it. It does, however, raise various zoning and building code issues, which you might want to steer clear of . . .

Good luck!
