No cold water in kitchen sink

We have had our new 2015 Classic out a few times now and we don't always run the water heater and leave it on. This last trip we did leave it on and we realized that we have no cold water option in the kitchen sink. Are we doing something wrong, or could something not be connected properly? The water is scalding hot and you can't cool it with any cold water. Any tips for us on this?

Check to make sure your bypass valve is closed. Look in your water heater compartment. If it is like mine you will see two pipes coming to and going from the water heater with valves in the input side. Those valves should be open, i.e the handles should be in line with the pipes. There is also a cross pipe with a valve in it connecting the hot and cold pipes. That valve should be off, e.g. the handle should be perpendicular to the pipe. If it is open the hot and cold water will mix.

No cold water in kitchen sink

We think we have solved the problem. Under the sink there is a cold water valve where a filter can be installed. It was not open, so now it should work. We haven 't heated up the water to test it yet.
