Newbie alert: how to hookup the water hose

We bought our '95 Sovereign (21ft) last week. We just took it out for a first weekend trip yesterday. We went 'boondocking' and made it through the weekend without major issues and a lot of reading in the manual.

Now that we're back home, I tried to fill up the water tank. The AS came with 2 hoses, both of which I assume are for drinking water.

Here's what I tried to do:
1) open the plug on the outside of the AS
2) hook up the hose -> Problem: the hose doesn't have an adapter to hookup to this ... so either I'm truly missing an adapter or I'm doing something wrong (my money is on the second one).

See the attachments for a picture of where I'm trying to hookup the hose, and a picture of the 2 hoses.
Can you help a newbie out?

Am I even looking at the correct hookup or is the 'city water hookup' (next to the electrical hookup) where I refill the water tank??

Thanks!

What you are seeing is the spout to fill the water tank, not the connection for city water. Look for a female hose adapter on the trailer. Mine is in the read, but it is much older.

to add water to your tank you need that water fill hose from camping world

Thanks. It seems like we're missing the water filler hose; I'll order that.

What is the difference between this tank and the connection for city water at the bottom of the AS? When hooked up to city water, does it bypass the AS tank?

City water or "Shore Water" does bypass the fresh water tank. Another trick; if you find the shore water pressure low, you can turn on your pump and supplement water from your fresh water tank to increase the pressure a bit to, for instance, the shower head. Have fun learning and don't hesitate to ask here. Congrats on the new trailer.

Thanks! That's another thing I didn't think about: when plugged into shore water, we don't need to run the water pump (unless as you say, pressure is really low).

I prefer not to hook up my fresh water tank inlet with threaded fitting, the chances of over filling or air gap are higher. Just insert the hose in the tank inlet hole and fill the tank. If you try to fill too fast sometimes the air gap in the pipe is created which stop the water going into the tank and start gushing out like the tanks is full when it is not
Welcome to the forrum

The water fill hose we too purchased from Camping World worked great UNTIL the water pressure separated the clear hose from the cap and of course, it went down into the tank. Suggest a clamp be used.

I have never used the Hose thingy. I just stick the hose into the fill port. Yes, occasionally it will pop out if the water pressure is high, but it has never been such an issue to prompt me to spend the $ and the extra step to fill.....and I have most ALL the gadgets.
