Micro Pulse Tank Sensor locations

2005 Classic 31...I figured out why my micro pulse tank sensors are not working...the wiring from them was removed by the PO. I found that there are 3 female plugs (marked fresh, grey, black )coming from the wire harness that terminates near the water pump. No wiring going to the sensors. I am not sure how to proceed. I have looked at the mfg. install instructions and they are saying to connect the sensor to the unit via their special wire...the PROBLEM is WHERE ARE THE SENSORS ? Mfg. says they should be mounted on the sidewall of each tank near the bottom. If I had some idea of where they are in relation to the tank pans I could cut access panels. But having no idea where Airstream or the tank mfg. put them, I am at a loss as to how to proceed. Looking for input....

Fresh Water Sensor Location

Hi - We've got a 2008 Classic..not that much older than your 2005. Short version, the fresh water sensor on ours is located just a few inches away from the fresh water fill pipe inlet on the side of the FW tank.

Removing the floor cover in our cedar closet lets us access the water pump area. There's a rat's nest of wiring and heat ducts. Following the fresh water fill pipe from the exterior wall down into the floor pan reveals the curb side of the FW tank. Actually an access hole that's pretty deep down into the pan itself.

Looking down on the tank from above the FW sensor on our tank is to the right or towards the rear of the trailer. It's near the bottom of the tank and just appears as a white nut @3/4" in diameter. If you feel around the outside surface (curb side) of the sensor there's a female connection on it. The connector is similar to a phone jack.

I'm no help with the others...but this should get you pointed at the FW.

All the best!

The black tank and gray tank sensors are located next to their respective drain valves under the trailer. You may already have a panel cut out of the belly pan to access these valves. If not, you will need to cut an opening.

The wiring for the sensors is nothing special. It is just telephone wire, four conductors terminated on RJ11 phone plug connectors.

It is likely, however, that your MicroPulse sensors are not working. You should replace them with SeeLevel external electronic sensors ($200). Great product and the sensors never get fouled by the "stuff" in your black tank.

I note this is an older posted thread; however, I had the same question and found my sensors- the freshwater sensor I accessed and replaced by the freshwater inlet and the water pump from inside the trailer reaching down into the opening. The grey water is inside the flap on the side of the tank where the dump tank pull is located. The only problem is I am not sure how to proceed. I assume you have to cut through the plastic to access it and then reattach a larger rubber-type flap on the side of the tank. (both my grey tank and the black tank have riveted rubber covers over the place with the dump drain pulls are. My tanks sit down lower than the belly pan so I was a bit confused about the discussion of cutting through the belly pan. I would think Airstreams would be similar in this way.
