Leaking over my holding tanks?! slow drip

Hi There! I am full timing in my Airstream. Only made it 6 weeks and list of problems. Now I am at the campsite, only ever been on city water and there is a slow drip coming from over my black and gray tank flush. It doesn't smell so I am thinking fresh water, but no idea. I have only had my 2020 Caravel FB since June and already spent more time in the shop than on the road. Of course I am all the way up in Washington state, and closest Airstream is 2 hours away. Any advice on what I can do would be greatly appreciated? I drained fresh, disconnected from city water and still leaks. Dumped all tanks and still constant drip each second. I am not wanting to try to find accommodations for the dog and I. Airstream in AZ took me 3 weeks to get into service after first week of purchase. Then they had it for 4 weeks for what they said were "user error". Total newbie, but not that daft.

Check the connection on the back side of the city water inlet they sometime just need a quarter turn to solve your problem.

Hi,if your going to Covington Wash Airstream you will probably be served better than before,I bought my 23FB their back in 2012 and they do well in service with that said you need to be more firm in getting this issue addressed. You might just have what I had with my 23FB, that was the shower waste was loose and it leaked from there. If you may picture though the tanks are empty your holding water in the sheet metal bay that hold the tanks and that why you continue to see water dripping.

So I had tried readjusting the water intake but it is actually dripping from under the metal plate above the dump valve. I’m trying to attach a pic if that helps anyone troubleshoot with me!

Is the fresh water tank full? Are you still connected to camp water?

Out FW tank will leak when full until the level drops below the vent line on the tank.

Disconnect and FW & see if the leak stops.

Hi Guys,

Yup, tried disconnecting from city water. Still dripping. Emptied the FW tank. Still dripping. Emptied the grey tank. Still dripping. Black tank dump. Still dripping....thank you sweet baby geebus, not my black tank leaking, I hope, I am not polluting. LOL! Still constant drip. Drained hot water tank, so I think, but I had another forum say you can't truly get rid of all the water in my lines without compressor air, etc. So I guess I am off to Airstream, 3xs in 3 months of purchase.....Puhleeeease tell me this gets better?! I am so hopeful and love my silver nugget. I knew there would be regular maintenance but much more of what I could fix, than this!

Fingers crossed in and out quick with puppers and not too much loss of deposits and money with my current campsites.

Just a thought but are you using your AC and are sure its not the AC condensation line causing the drip?

Yes it does get better once you get past the deficiency list.

What we have here is a failure by Airstream to verify by pressure testing all water systems plumbers do in new housing/ commercial construction more so in our trailers.

First off, AndieJay, Welcome!

I’m perplexed by the description that you’ve unhooked from city water, emptied all the tanks and still have the drip. A few things to consider and try...

- If you change the level on the trailer (front to back or side to side) does the leak emerge from a different point?

- When you drained everything did you turn off the water pump and open a faucet to relieve the fresh water system of pressure? Any change in drip rate? A slow drip in the supply system can take surprisingly long to relieve past system pressure.

- What’s generally above that point on your floor plan? Could there be a leaking sink trap or shower pan that slowly feeds water even after feed sources are off? Those leaks in the drain side of a house or Airstream don’t stop or slow when systems are turned off and drained.

- As Gleverett suggested, this may not be a plumbing leak at all. AC condensate can flow off the roof and appear in crazy places. Overnight dew can do the same (but usually dries up quickly as the day warms). Any chance it’s one of those? Even the fridge has a drain and could drip if there is a problem with the gasket or other seals.

This sounds like a typical Airstream mystery... but one that probably has a solution and based on what you’ve learned so far may not be serious. I’ve changed a black tank dump valve during a trip... I’m confident that you are not in that kind of trouble!

Thank you! We kept hearing a drip and after reading your comment we did the quarter turn and our drip stopped immediately.

Our concern now is that it was dripping for about a week. Have we done damage to our flooring with the water leak? Not sure that leak for a week would do damage but we’re in a humid cold area that things do not dry out quickly right now.
