Galley Faucet

There is hardly any flow of water from the faucet in the kitchen. I have removed and cleaned the strainer. I have also disconected the chrome end from the extention hose. The flow from the unattached hose is good.
The trailer came without the paper work for this fixture. If any one has the model # for this faucet. I would be grateful. A drawing with how to disassemble the chrome end would also be helpful.
Thankyou!
Jay
PS. Our trailer is a 2010 27FB. International

I really don't know your trailer, but on ours, there is a filter below the galley deck that, if plugged up, could impede the flow of water.

Have you have a look down there yet?

If you have left the extension hose connected, good flow from the hose without the chrome end indicates that the flow is restricted in the chrome end. I do not know what faucet you have, but many faucets today come with a built-in flow restrictor as a water-saving method. Such a restrictor could be your problem or it could even be clogged up, since the devices commonly work by having small holes to let water through.

Please Check the Aerator Again

You say you cleaned the "strainer." This terminology makes me wonder if you removed the entire aerator and cleaned all the parts and pieces besides the screen, or strainer. It really does sound like a clogged aerator. The clog is usually in the plastic elements of the aerator before the screen.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you resolve this.

Thankyou for your input!
There is not a water filter on this trailer. When I said strainer I was incorrect. I should have said aerator. With the aerator removed the flow does not increase. With the chrome end of the faucet removed, there is good flow from the extention hose.
The faucet control has Elkay on it.
I cannot see the way to disassemble the chrome end.
Thanks, again!

Is your faucet a Rv or a home (big box store) model and does it have only one handle? Mine (bbs) single handle has a cartridge in the main body below the handle and spigot that got debris in it. I blew air thru the cartridge and it started to work again. This has happened twice, so now I turn the bathroom faucet on first after hooking up the hose with inline filter to make sure all the debris and air are out of the line before turning on my sensitive kitchen faucet. There was a allen screw on the back side of the handle under a logo "plug". Good luck!

Michelle,
It looks to me like a house type faucet. The water coming out of the extention hose indicates to me that the flow through the cartridge under the handle is OK.
Thanks,
Jay

Elkay is a high-level brand for residential faucets, sinks, etc. so it is very possible that it has a flow reducer within the chrome handpiece. A plumber or plumbing store that sells Elkay products might be able to help you if you can't find the problem on your own.

Jay, my guess is that Elkay, like Moen, has a lifetime warranty on their products.

I suggest you call Airstream tech support (they're not all that busy right now), and have them identify your model. Then, call Elkay.

Good luck!

Murrey,
We have the same trailer, and my gallery faucet is a Moen F87254 as per page F-15 of the owners manual. I looked it up today because side spray is leaking at the chrome plastic sprayer.

Great picture!
Replacement wands are available for that model.
If you have good flow to and through the flex line. Just go to the nearest, real plumbing supply store (Not Lowes or Home Depot) and buy a new wand.
If that isn't an option just poke around a brass welding rod, or a .22 gun cleaning rod. You just have sediment from your hot-water heater lodged in there. You may also try back flushing by forcing water through from the faucet opening back through the wand.

We spend 6 months year in our Airstream and have found scale from hard water building up throughout the plumbing system in our first trailer. Taking a tip from a full-timer we bought a portable RV water softener from Camping World when we got the new trailer and have had virtually none since. It also produces luxurious water for washing.

Would also recommend a water filter for the hookup hose outside your trailer. Campground water supply is often loaded with sand, scale, and such that can damage your faucets and valves, and load up your faucet screens.

Doug offers good advice above ... AND I replaced the charcoal filter on our external water filter unit three weeks ago, but did NOT run it long enough to fully clear the "little black specs" from the filter. I hooked it in to our system and found the specs in our sinks. It also gummed up our kitchen faucet, similar to yours. Some compressed air and some back-flushing and all is well again. Lesson Learned for Me.

JJ, I had an issue with the bracket that holds the water filter. They said, no problem you've got a lifetime warranty on the faucet and all related products. They sent a replacement immediately.

Give 'em a call. Bet they replace the sprayer, ricky ticky.

All who responded to my request--Thankyou!
We finally were able to leave SE Arkansas (we had a 3 day ice storm) where we had Internet in the State Park. The Internet in the Louisana Park is down and we finally got to a McDonald where I am able to respond.
While in Arkansas there was were freezing temperatures. I left the galley faucet just barely on over night to prevent a freeze up of the system. This seemed to clear the system and it is now working properly.
I am trying to attach a picture of my filtration and water softening device that I built when we had a 22' Airstream. Our present trailer has never had untreated water in it.
Thanks Again!
Jay

mjay' that's a snazzy water treatment plant you have there. Smart move. We just put our filter then softener in line with the hoses. I put quick disconnects on the softener for recharging.

We had cold temps in Tucson this week, 17 degrees one night, well below freezing several nights. I thought it best to disconnect the water and let the spigot run outside. My concern is that the sewer connections or hose could ice up, freeze, and a running faucet would overflow the tank into the trailer while we were sleeping. Maybe not but the possibility is there.
