Cunningham P trap

Getting my 57 Overlander stripped down to do a shell off and found this P trap under the shower drain. It also had a brass one way valve down stream. The valve is just a flapper with no seal or spring tension. Any one have any experience with this shallow P trap? Wouldn't mind installing in the new shower/bath tub we'll install.

Wow that interesting! If you not putting that back in, check out the hepvo valves they eliminate the p-traps and free up more room.

I reinstalled mine. I replaced the flapper check valve with a new one because I was running forward to a new gray tank and I didn't want water sloshing back into the shower pan every time I accelerated. It doesn't need to seal tight, just prevent mass flow in the opposite direction.
Has worked fine.

Thanks guys I hadn't come across the hepvo valve so this helps sort out dealing with the sinks and not losing what little space is available. I will probably use the Cunningham on the shower with a hepvo past it, just to keep it on the trailer.
