Camco Camper Drain Trap?

Anyone have any experience with this little "trap"? It's made by Camco.

It only has a 3/4" barbed fitting as the "out" feed. I was hoping to use it as a shower drain on a shower in my 68 sovereign. My challenge is that I'm 6' 5" tall, so I need as much headroom as possible, and my grey tank is literally right under my shower pan. I have room for a regular trap, but then I would have to raise the pan by at least 1 1/2" to accommodate the pipe thickness. If I could use this trap, I would not have to raise the pan at all. I could simply route the 3/4" flex pipe to a 3/4" fitting on top of the tank.

My concerns are as follows:

1: does the 3/4" tubing limit the draining ability?
2: does this trap hold up over time?

I have another question for the drainage experts. I have seen drains going into the side wall of the grey tank. I thought you has to enter on the top of the tank. Is entering on the side wall acceptable?
