Black water tank has terminal posts?

Hi, can someone give me a quick tutorial on the black water monitoring system? My 71 Sovereign came without a black water tank installed. Po gave me the broken original tank he had sitting in his barn at the point of purchase. I used it as a reference to order a new one which has arrived and I'm now noticing the three terminals built into the tank. I've located the old wires that used to be connected to the old tank but don't know what order. And if I did know what order they were, do I still need anything for the inside of the tank like a liquid switch or float switches or is the circuit connected with the liquids in the tank?

The post would already be partially located within the tank.

The wires are attached starting at the top as follows.

Top Black

Middle Brown

Bottom. Red.

Thanks Andy, kind of funny the man who sold me the tank is also helping me wire it. One more thing though, is that it? Do I just hook the wires up to the tank and that's it??

That's all you need to do.

The rest is up to the "central control panel" that's in the front rooflocker.

If it's OK, then your in business.

If not, then try to find someone that can repair it.

All the above information is good, but only IF the "shunt" that was part of the original AC to DC voltage converter is still part of the circuit.

If the converter was updated and the shunt was not properly connected to the new installation, it is highly unlikely that the water monitoring system will operate.

One last thing: don't pin your hopes on it working for very long even IF you get it going. They are infamous for not working.

But of course, in reality, this is no limitation: the only "client" of the black tank is the toilet. Step on the pedal to open the toilet and shine an ordinary flashlight down the hole and you will quickly be able to figure out how full the tank is...

Thank you gents very helpful. Couple of other things I noticed about the tank is the 3" threaded hole on the top for the toilet. What parts do I need to make a proper toilet/tank connection? And do I need a metal box around the tank? I've seen some people have them but mine doesn't. What's it for?
