1988 Excella Toilet Replacement

I have a 25’ Excella with a side bath. The toilet is on a pedestal. I am considering replacing to the toilet, however, the connection to the black water tank is on a 45 degree angle. Has anyone replaced the pedestal toilet with a regular height toilet and how did you address the connection to the black water tank. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
