Chris Pandolfi of the Infamous Stringdusters wrote a beautiful tribute to Tony Rice on instagram -
"Every note mattered. Every composition was unique, beautiful and powerful in its own way. His singing was smooth and eternally soulful and the song choices were wide ranging and evocative, creating a catalogue for the ages. Every aspect of the guitar playing was just so innovative and astounding. Tony Rice was that once in many generations musician who’s influence extended far beyond his instrument or any specific genre. He touched us all with his unmistakable combination of raw power and graceful articulation. Occasionally the @stringdusters would sit in the back of the bus late night after a show and spin Rice records front to back—5 guys shredding air guitar like a bunch of kids, in complete awe of how deep the music can take you. That’s what we strive for, to be great and authentic like Tony was. He set the standard, and pickers far and wide devote their lives to music in search of creating something that meaningful. Rest In peace Tony, your music and inspiration will live forever ��"

I was cruizin' through this thread to recall some great performances, and came across this Post #253, of a performance at Glastonbury in 2016. The audience's intro chant of "All we want to do is ride around, Gary" is moving, and that Spirit would certainly be welcome to hear these days, if you know what I mean . . .
