ah, man, I have so many favorites...I wouldn't know where to even start listing them all. Start with Segovia, throw in Clapton, Hendrix, Stevie Ray, and the list just keeps going.

Lately, when working on something that requires attention ( driving would qualify, I would think), I have found that if I play some instrumental music instead of stuff with lyrics it goes better. Lyrics are distracting.

We've been listening to a lot of these guys lately, if you like this kind of guitar, too:

Well since you asked . . .

Here is our favorite guitar player singer songwriter. His new CD "Here and Now is Home" is available on iTunes. Shameless parental plug here. :-)

I like guitar music!

I had a guitar and did a little strumming back in the day when we all had long hair and played the guitar.

As a guitar player myself, I am a fan of so many artists: Clapton, Page, Hendrix, Joe Walsh, Justin Hayward, Van Halen, etc... I'm sure I'm missing a few both those are some that come immediately to mind.

I've still got a Fender Strat in the closet, haven't touched it in years. My favorite was a Yamaha 12 string acoustic, I bought in Singapore.

These days, I try to get in at least a half hour a day trying to pick up the fiddle.

Among the modern pickers, Brad Paisley and John Mayer come to mind.

Currently have a Seagull in the other room, Yamaha and Alvarez in the son's possession to go along with his workhorse Guild.

My favorite guitar right now is a 6-string Seagull. Don't have an electric one though I expect to pick one up here soon.

DW gave me the Seagull for anniversary a couple of years ago and even for the casual player like myself, it has a very nice feel to it. and my son says it has great touch for fingerpicking

I'm looking for a used Yamaha or other non-acoustic electric violin or viola. I intend to be able to play though the headphones without disturbing other campers.

I was going to add Tommy myself. Also want to add Chet Atkins (Tommy and Chet did and album together) and Les Paul (Chet and Les also did an album or two.).

Also want to add Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray, and another lesser known Austin guy, Charlie Sexton.

Just too many to mention.

Last week I saw the Helios Guitar Quartet playing at UALR in Little Rock. They are recording the entire Well Tempered Calvier by JS Bach on guitar. It should be released sometime this year. These guys are great. The arraignments are done by one of the members.

Eric Clapton plays Robert Johnson is a very powerful album or CD. Play that and then play a CD of Johnson playing the same songs.

For years I have been trying to remember the same of a guy who in the early 70's played in Hendrix's style and have several albums, but have never been able to remember.

Another interesting artist was Captain Beefheart (Don VanVliet), not a particularly accessible artist who was known in the early '70's. He died a couple of years ago.

We have bought many CD's of old timers—many are on collections of old blues and can be found in used record/CD stores. Lots of fine music there.
