Airstine, welcome! I love Hartstine Island (my profile pic was taken there last Spring). Sounds like you've got the perfect spot. Any issues with leaving your trailer there full time? We've toyed with the idea of finding a spot there, but the cost to tow over on the ferry is prohibitive!

Yeah, but you own an Airstream.

It truly is all in the way you look at it.

I thought that I wanted a nice trout stream.

But I saw how a few inches of rain turn a nearby little stream into a raging dangerous river. I am glad that I ended up with a mountain spring.
No fish , but cool drinking water.
Floods have damaged a lot of riverside RVs in my neck of the woods.

Mel, thanks for the welcome.

We avoid the ferry fares by driving south, then taking the Narrows Bridge to get to Harstine Island.

So far, there have been no problems with leaving the airstream out there. The nearby property owners love the idea of having the silver sight in the area, and they keep an eye on things when we're gone.

Well, one problem last weekend--the rear vent cover disintegrated and blew off (topic for another thread). But the hole in the roof allowed us to sleep bathed in moonlight!

I have a site in the NC mountains. Back in the early 70's it was known as Land Yacht Harbor. Many residents were AS owners. It was nice to see silver lining the driveways. My family graduated to a park model with tip out rooms, then built a small cabin. I insisted on keeping a pad for an RV and a 30 amp hookup. It comes in handy for overnight guests. It's on the Linville River and has been IN it (the river) as well. Floods are a danger of living by the normally tranquil river.

Yep, that's always an option, but it's tough to motivate ourselves to drive around when the Edmonds ferry is about five minutes away from us. We learned a tough lesson last time, though - took the 22' trailer, which when combined with the truck put us over the 40' mark. OUCH! Lesson learned - take the small trailer on the ferry!

Glad to hear you have good neighbors who will keep an eye on the Airstream while you're away. Tough luck on that vent cover, though!

Well, the full timing discussion has been batted around here many times too. But right now I enjoy having a garden and animals. Not quite ready to give up the property. Until then I have to just enjoy the free weekends when they happen.

Oh, and it never floods in my dream campsite, of course

We own vacation property. But we don't vacation at the vacation property. Indeed, we do our very best to leave the vacation property as often as we can!

We bought 18 acres in southern Ohio a couple of years ago,it`s at the end of a hollow,[no cell phones there],property around owned by timber co.,we built the small house up on the hill, not finished yet,got my 30'x60' shop completed. The Airstream we leave up there is a73 overlander,it stays in the shop till we need it,then it has it`s own spot with full hookup,we are lucky to get up there 2 weeks a year, 5 yrs and counting then hopefully I can redo the 73 and start on my 48 Spartanette. We have plenty of deer and turkey, but the stream kinda dries up unless it rainy season,I was up in April, dogwoods in bloom & morel mushrooms for dinner,5 y e a r s. Vacation property

We bought a farm in Southwest Wisconsin near where I grew up. Lots of trees, beautiful views and nice people. At the end of a 1/4 mile lane so it is very private. Came with a great pole barn that would hold several Airstreams!

It's all in the terminology.
So, are there any "brown-trout" in that thar man-made lake? Like you said, it's all semantics
