Where should our 25’ FC move in the Southeast (and take us)
Our 25’ 2017 FC is super smart and follows airforums.com daily. She does this because she knows the contributors are the smartest and most opinionated around.
So, although she has many features (new Goodyear Endurance tires, 4000# brute jack turned sideways, etc.) she can not type. Therefore she would like me to ask the esteemed forum “Where should our 25’ FC move in the Southeast (and take us)”
Background:
Our 25’ FC now lives in the DC suburbs and wants us to move to the southeast US
Desired Attributes of her New Home:
Region:- No or rare snow
- No or rare alligators ( her bird dog loves to swim)
- Limited impacts from hurricanes
- One day drive to Northern Florida
- Close to good COE, State Park and other campgrounds
- Boundaries (Chattanoga TN - Lake Martin AL, Lagrange GA, Eatonton GA, Greensboro SC, Clemson SC) see attached graphic)
Community:- Small town
- Good health care
- Has a Publix
- Has a Lowes (or Home Depot second choice)
- Diversity of politics
- Optional - small college
Property & House:- Safe area
- professional but not snobby
- Waterfront but not flood prone
- 1 - 5 Acre lot
- Walkable neighborhood (for one of her owners that counts steps)
- Mostly 1 level
- Not on a busy road
- *** Able for 25’ FC to live on the property versus offsite storage
Our 25’ FC is convinced these criteria are much easier than the complex issues usually tackled such as F150 vs F250, best anti sway hitch hitch etc.
Looking forward to your suggestions

I'm partial to Greenwood, SC since my best friend lives there. We visit yearly in February and enjoy getting out of snow country on our way to fl & tx. Lake greenwood has plenty of water front, haven't seen one gator and checks all your boxes for community. In the 5+ years my friend has been there it snowed once less than an inch and was gone the next day. If my daughter/grandson weren't so close to us we be there too. So next best thing we visit for a couple weeks each year. Home to lander university, publix, lowes, walmart etc... Give it a look.

The area from St. Mary’s, Georgia, all the way up to Charleston, SC, may not meet all of your criteria but is my favorite part of the world.
You can be impacted by hurricanes anywhere down in there, but at least they can’t sneak up on ya.
At least worth a very thorough look-see.
IMHO

Upstate South Carolina. That’s the NW corner area, Clemson is in there.
If I could I’d consider it myself.

Georgia towns you might consider include Blue Ridge, Ellijay, and Dahlonega.

Carrollton GA . Is nice. County parks, state parks and ACE parks are near in West Point.

Florida has no income tax.
No personal property tax.
No “intangibles” tax.
No ‘Winter” as the term is usually defined.
Flagler Beach is superb, still has a small town feel.
Deland— small college town. Arts, sports, springs…
Dunnellon — Rainbow Springs. Gulf an hour away. Will be beachfront ~ 2075 AD.

We had a similar list when we relocated from northern CA to the southeast last year to be near my mom and family in Newberry, SC. We spent most of September through December looking in the Maryville area of east TN, Greenville, SC area, Bluffton, SC, Raleigh, NC area, and others. Initially we made a circle of within a day drive to my mom, but her health necessitated that circle be smaller. We ended up in Chapin. SC in a great neighborhood on Lake Murray, which our dog swims in almost daily. No gators, new Publix 4 miles away, far enough inland that hurricanes are not an issue. Easy drive to the coast or the mountains. Good luck. Many great choices out there.
