Peter is continuing to improve. I try to be sensitive to what people want to be said and have little more info than that. I don’t know exactly what happened, but know he is getting physical therapy. Make whatever of that, but Peter will let us know what he wants when he wants. If you are curious, so am I. Improvement in his condition is obvious from the tone of his brief messages to me, and from that alone I am encouraged. I only write this because I am sure many of his friends and followers are curious and patience can be hard to maintain. He reads this thread, so your messages of encouragement are all seen by him and I am sure they are appreciated.

Peter originally wanted to spend some time away from the Forum and then had a medical problem. A coincidence. Whether he will resume posting a lot is unknown by me. I know I have stepped away from the Forum from time to time and I supported Peter in doing so. When you can’t go through a day or several days without checking it out and typing, it takes time and energy, maybe too much. I have other circles of friends and things I do and when spending lots of time on the Forum affects that, it is time to reassess. I am not speaking for Peter, just my thoughts and impressions.

Peter is being moved to a small, well run rehab facility on Long Island’s Great South Bay. His recovery is steady and is walking again with aid. I know it sounds like a stroke, but Peter says it is the brain lesion—my guess is that is puts pressure on parts of the brain and causes similar effects. I am not even a TV doctor, but I can malpractice with the worst of them. Regardless, Peter is recovering and that takes time. He may have to sell his Airstream, but let’s hope recovery progresses and he can get back on the road next season.

Hi

Yikes ....

I'm glad it wasn't worse that it was. Still the rehab process sounds long and hard. We all with him good luck.

Send a message via AIM to Nelson428
I know Peter needed a break from the forums however not due to a medical issue. The forums can take a great deal of time it’s good to know Peter is reading these messages so he knows people care and Are praying for his return to good health and for his his caregivers. Any rehab is slow going so hopefully he won’t have to sell his airstream but if he does he has a wealth of knowledge he can still share with folks on the forums all in due time all in due time.

Hang in there Peter and we will chat when you return.

Chin up, Peter, facing full forward toward whatever must next be done to recover.

Know that many here care about you, miss your presence, and wish you a steady if not speedy recovery.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard that song, but I really love the lyrics.

Who needs a house up on a hill
When you can have one on four wheels
And take it anywhere the wind might blow
You don't ever have to mow the yard
Just hang a map and throw a dart
And pray to God the engine starts and go

Water and electric and a place to drain the septic
Any KOA is A-OK as long as I'm with you
So come on hitch your wagon
To the living room I'm draggin'
If I can't bring you to my house
I'll bring my house to you

Parking lots and county lines
Coutin' mile marker signs
Where the buffalo and antelope
Greetings from Niagara Falls
One more postcard for the wall
Off in our home sweet home away from home

Water and electric and a place to drain the septic
Any KOA is A-OK as long as I'm with you
So come on hitch your wagon
To the living room I'm draggin'
If I can't bring you to my house
I'll bring my house to you

In Washington, in Idaho
In Oregon and away we go
To Tennessee and Arkansas
No we won't stop 'til we've seen 'em all
'Til we've seen 'em all
So what else could you ask for?
You don't even need a passport
To see the whole world from our living room

So come on hitch your wagon
To the happiness I'm draggin'
If I can't bring you to my house
I'll bring my house to you
If I can't bring you to my house
I'll bring my house to you

It don't matter where we go
We'll never be alone
Anywhere besides you, is a place that I'll call home
It don't matter where we go
We'll never be alone
Anywhere besides you is a place that I'll call home

Maggie

It's a difficult journey, but I'm confident you will succeed. Try to make some progress every day, and understand there will be some setbacks, which is normal.

We are praying for a complete and full recovery. Soon you will be climbing mountains like this. Why not?

Peter is in a private room at the rehab facility with a desk set up like at home, so he is eager to resume something of his “normal” life. I realize that those of us who post so frequently are really not “normal”, but normal for us. Bureaucratic procedures are slowing getting his PT regimen started, but he is optimistic it will start soon. Most important, with each message I get, Peter sounds more like himself. Recovery always has ups and down, false starts, great days, self examination and thoughts what the future will be like. Age is an experience we poorly prepare for and discover a lot about ourselves as we live and learn. A good attitude is essential to a good recovery and I’m glad to see Peter sounds better and better.
