DW and I are thinking about buying an Airstream but are worried about what size to get. We use as a TV a GMC Sierra Z71 and don't want a larger truck. We are wavering between a 23' and a 25' Safari. Those of you with experience please help us with which one we can comfortably pull.
Thanks
John
I currently tow a 21', my last trailer was a 1998 25' Safari. My Z-71 1500 Sierra towed both with no problems. I have the 4.8 engine which is no powerhouse when towing, but it does not struggle at all. Suspension, etc is fine.

Airstream vs Tow Vehicle
Whatever Airstream you choose it will outlast your current tow vehicle by years. Get whatever seems best to you for long term living and use. I think you could do a 25 Safari or CCD without too much problem. The heavier Classic would be marginal. Pack light, don't tow with black and gray tanks full.
We pull our 2005 25' Safari with two different TVs. One is an '04 Tahoe with the 5.3 liter V-8. It does pretty well as long as the trip is not real hilly. We also tow the Safari with an '05 Suburban 2500 with the 6.0 liter. It does really well in all situations. I think that the 23' would be more within your TV's comfort range. The 25' would not be out of the question, though.
