Being someone that loves the look of a original year license plate on things classic cars, trailers, etc... I had to do the same for a trailer "Shackman" is restoring for me. The trailer is a
1956 Safari FK, but since it was sold in
1957, the title says it's a
1957 so we had to go with that. After looking for a little while I came across a "VA TR" tag with 4 digit number. Overall the shape was good, with a nice vintage look but it was felt with the level of work Doug was doing, the trailer deserved to have the license plated restored too. I contacted Rod Pearman at
www.tagdr.com he is considered one of the best at license plate restorations. If you look at his website, you will know why. After sending him some pictures of the condition plate, taking his guidance of getting the plate legal with the trailer "before" restoring since the DMV in Virginia prefers non-restored plates to be registered, the plate was sent to him. Rod did a great job of sending photo's of the plate after glass beading and what was going to be done. Below you will see before, during and have shots of the plate. Can't wait to see the finished product on the Airstream.
Enjoy,
