Vintage America

I was steered to the following Automotive Forum thread by another group. The thread, as you work your way through it, is filled with pictures of vintage America. Street scenes is the theme showing cars, buses, some trailers and garages and car dealerships from the sixties back in time to in some cases the early 1900's. It is an extensive thread and there is other stuff that pops up but as you work your way through it there are some outstanding street scenes and travel scenes from all over the USA. I spent a couple of hours on it on New Years Eve - yeah, we would prefer to enjoy the evening at home relaxing as being out spending money - and I'll head back to the thread today to play some more. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have..........when you get there go back and start at page 1. I got to page 29 last night and today I hope to complete it and heck, maybe start again. If anyone else has any other street scenes from back then it would be fun to see them too.

The Supercar Registry Bulletin Board: Old Street Scenes

Barry what a great link....

Thanks for posting.

Several years ago I started collecting the old AAA Automobile Blue Books,
not at all like today's BB's. (car values)
A precursor to today's GPS and road maps, filled with great old ad's and articles. There's usually a few for sale on ebay...

Those are really neat Bob. I have never seen one. Poor Donna is going to wonder what now when I spend even more time in the book section of the antique stores we frequent.

Very cool Barry. Here's one you might be interested in. A 1907 trolly ride through downtown Vancouver!

I had never known they existed either, until I saw one exhibited with a 1919 Ford at our EFV/8 Club Regional Meet in 2006.
When you stop and realize that every route they describe had to have been traveled and logged by individual teams all across the Country, and there were books for all regions, it truly was a daunting undertaking.

Cameron, love the video of Vancouver. I've got some friends who work for TransLink who will love to see what their very early counterparts had to work with.

Barry, a better quality version can be seen on a DVD called 'City Reflections'

CityReflections.ca > Vancouver > 1907 > 2007

Thanks Cameron. Love it.

I've spent hours on the Supercar site just looking at all the buiildings, the cars, the way people were dressed --- I think I may have a problem

If anybody asks, tell them you've taken up anthropology.

Good tip Cameron. The only concern is then they'll think I'm spending too much time in front of a mirror.
