UFO Sightings while towing an Airstream

I have a hard enough time following traffic on those stretches of highway where anyone is permitted to drive. At times, it is our entertainment and gives us discussion time on the driver and judging which State Plate is still attached. Some States draw more attention than others... but this is a UFO discussion.

There was a short period of time, after becoming a member of the Airstream "Family" of owners, where my wife and I would wave and flash our headlights at an Airstream coming from the other direction. No response from most... possibly all since picking one's nose may not count as in the affirmative.

Traffic in front of us might have thought there was some part of their vehicle coming loose, or the back doors were open on the passing FedEx truck. Oops.

A few times it looked like an Airstream, only to be a shiny "gasoline hauler". A 48 footer(?) Oops. Maybe thinking we need to top of the tank at the next rest area.

Now, we try to guess the length of the Airstream within five feet, either way. We know it has to be between 16 and 34 feet. You cannot not miss a triple axle gasoline hauler or a 34 foot Airstream. The difference is... one is hauling fuel and the other mostly air and stale doughnuts.

Do not get me wrong. We do look for Airstreams when Off the Grid. When OtG... Airstreams ARE... UFO's. Unidentified Floating Objects. We like camping near remote lakes, when possible. Rivers as well. But seeing a Flying Saucer or an Airstream... is an experience, either way.

I enjoy the threads repairing our trailers. Under warranty... or not. The Forum has actually helped me to install new capacitors into our Dometic AC unit from a "popular member with extensive knowledge on these matters". This makes the Forum a valuable resource and wealth of knowledge and experience.

So, the next time you see a shiny object in the sky or on the highway... it could be an UFO or an Airstream. Just be careful. One will ignore you and the other... you could find yourself on board getting a "physical exam" of some kind.

Footnote: Yes... we wanted to camp at the UFO crash site north of Roswell, NM. The last time we slowed down looking... and looking. The sign was MISSING. Only to discover at the UFO "museum of sorts in town" there was a big fight over the... actual crash site and the sign was removed. I quit believing in Santa and now... UFO's.

Happy New Year and may 2016 improve the Air Quality in China and contaminated salad ingredients used at some restaurants.

Don't worry. There may not be a Santa, and there may not be UFOs, but there's still the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, jackalopes, and honest politicians to believe in, though you may never see any of them in your lifetime…

While driving back home from work to my Airstream late one night I saw a UFO that looked to be a spaceship type thing. In 61 years of life seen 2 or 3 UFO's but only one that I was pretty sure was a spaceship. Not that night, but have had E.T.'s in my trailer a few times. A couple of them spent the night. Kind of hope they were female. You probably wouldn't believe how strange reality really is. Some things are hard to explain. Leland

While at Roswell, NM I bought a couple of Alien driver's licenses. Good photo ID as well. Looks a lot like myself, but bald with larger eyes. Maybe a Las Vegas Casino will accept as an ID and can get a discounted room, as I would be considered out of town.

HARRHUMPF!

I know. This comes as a shock to myself.

When I was invited to a Basic Training party, the BTP, at Fort Polk, Louisiana in 1969 and AIT for those special people... Santa also did not come and leave a gift. Instead, I had some guy yelling at us to enjoy our day and to reflect on being able to serve and protect. Obviously some are not in the Season's Spirit any of the time.

Whenever anyone with an Airstream is parked at an RV Park... you ARE an UFOuO. An Unidentified Foreign Object under Observation.

Europeans at a Nevada RV Park we had camped, would take a photograph of our Airstream with stealth timing, possibly to offer the photo to any of the Gossip Newspapers as a curiosity or novelty. All had the rented Tour the Grand Canyon RV's or Utah in the minority.

Much like going to the ophthalmologist and being categorized among the - Flashers and Floaters. It is embarrassing and humiliating, until I realized the nurse was making notes about my eyes, and not my character.

.... and WHY are you not trekking Wyoming next year? Santa is going to put a pine cone in your pants, for sure. There is no age limit, even if you find yourself as a Flasher and Floater.

Now that it's another 365 days until Christmas (leap year, you know…) and I have a whole year to get back on the "nice" list this seems pertinent to your question:

Ray,
you are so funny! I wish I could make the 'trek to wilds of Wy', but, my physical staus is not up to that type of trip. I'm not a wimp...just intelligently aware of my limits.

I will be meeting up with Maggie in Jackson, Wy....then on to Oregon for the Shirley Valentine get together. Why don't you and your wife join us? Would love to meet you both.
Evelyn.

Ps: please...no pine cone in my pants!
