If anyone else knows how to use a Craigslist search such as CraigsPal, please do a search for Airstream Bambi. You'll see a whole bunch of 2005 19' International CCD Bambis show up in all states for $5800. These are the same scammers as before because they always use Bambi, and always use the $5800 asking price. PLEASE FLAG THESE POSTINGS so no one gets suckered in. All the posts I'm seeing right now are from today (3/9), but I'm not at the end of the list yet.

I've been seeing these scams within the 400 miles search radius of Albuquerque (using CraigsHelper). The picture usually shows a 23' (tandem axle) Safari(?) with a 19' Bambi description. I've been flagging them daily--in several of these western cities.

I don't understand why they're doing this?

I posed as a prospective buyer on one of these a few months ago and the deal they described was that the trailer was in a storage/ shipping yard in Utah and I could have it shipped to me to see if I liked it. If I decided to send it back within a week I would be credited back for the shipping costs!
All they really want is a credit card number or a wire transfer to the "shipping company"
The person who replied to the e-mails was not very good at everyday American English and they told me off when they found they were not going to sell me a trailer I couldn't go and see. This is such a regular scam with the same pictures and asking prices it's too bad craigslist can't find a way to deal with them before we all have to.

Question:

What option do I use to flag these (scam) types of listings: miscategorized, prohibited, or spam/overposting? I found a couple car listings that were similar to the recurring Bambi ad and couldn't figure which option to use...

Oh, last night our local news did a piece on scams like this for automobiles - where the vehicle is out of state and will be shipped. I can't believe anyone would fall for this. But, maybe with Airstreams, folks are more inclined to consider this option since A/S are not so readily available ... ???

Use the spam/overpost option. It is a SPAM and is overposted, being that it is in so many cities at the same time. I wrote an email to the person, but I was never contacted.

There was a Bambi on ebay a while back. Same thing, great deal. At least the picture was correct. I knew it was too good to be true $$$. The ebay seller said to contact them through the listed email address--NOT through the ebay link. (Big Red Flag here.) Just for fun, I sent an email. They told me the AS was at the "ebay warehouse" and they'd ship it to me. They guaranteed that I'd be so happy with the AS and that it'd be delivered by flatbed to my door. Same song, different verse.

Looks like the price of Bambis went up today!! A bunch of Bambi scams were now on Craigslist today for $7800. It's scary to think what other items they're running this kind of scam on that people are falling for.

I "spammed" them back and sent the same email to everyone of them saying I'm interested and, if still available, will give them $10,000 for the item and shipping and asked them to send the rest back to me. HAHAHA!!! Then I flagged 'em. ;-)

many might not even think this is a scam, but you'll notice there's no reserve, low starting price, and in the description they mention they'd let it go for under $9K, and to email them at a yahoo address which theyve ingeniously took the first few letters of the actual sellers name and stuck it on. ill be reporting it, and in the meantime am waiting to hear back from the scammer on what kind of shipping deal theyre going to do for me. kevin

contact ebay of scam they will pull ad imed. have done this several times farmer bill

I think I just made someone mad!! :-D Looks like my spamming (probably 30-40 emails from ads in all different states) was getting through to someone on the other end; I received this message: "I've received your emails please don't send any more emails." Not a mention of the trailer, so they darn well know I'm on to them, as well as everyone else who flagged these.

More are still showing up, so I'm continuing to flag. Makes me feel good knowing I'm irritating them. :-)

My final price is $ 5.800. I already has tons of emails so I hope you understand that I need to sort them out. I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the trailer, to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. What a coincidence... Britni is the one who told me to stop sending the emails!! :-) They always set up a gmail account and usually use a girl's name... not sure why. I wish there was a way to remove them all from Craigslist quickly, especially since they're so easily identifiable. I just hope no one falls for the scams!!!

Hey, have you looked at the header info from that email? might tell you a little about where they are doing this scam out of - you could report it perhaps to their ISP....

These are probably better labelled as 'prohibited' as they're scams, not listings from an overactive seller. Want to see dozens of these? Go to New Brunswick, Halifax, or PEI craigslist in Canada where almost every vehicle listing, tractor, 4 wheeler is a scam. People should realize that if something is such a great deal, why do they have to post it everywhere when it would sell in their own state in a second? Some of these scammers work on their own, others are part of groups, some controlled by the mob. 99% of them live overseas, I've played with them from Romania, Hungary, Russia, southeast Asia, and a bunch in the UK! It's great all of us on here are flagging these scum, but I think what the internet needs is a company that can have their email addresses instantly removed when one of these scams is spotted. That would effectively remove the ability for unsuspecting victims to get in contact with them. If you forward info to AOL or Yahoo etc. most of the time they'll do nothing.......or it takes them too long to act upon it and by then it's too late.
