That day is here

Today I tow our trailer for the last time.

Too sick and rickety to hitch and tow anymore.

My buddy is coming over and he'll hitch it up and we'll tow the trailer off to be sold.

Sigh.

However in looking back. I have had a blast boon docking, rallies and traveling.

Courtesy parking will still be offered more so than ever just so I can see an Airstream in the yard.

Travel safe and enjoy the adventure.

Could say passing the torch. Now others has the opportunity to experience what we do or have done. That’s a great exchange !

Farewell, old Friend. That day is coming for all of us. You should consider staying on the Forums as you can still provide sage insight.

Sad but understandable. You have been a member here for many, many years. The advice to stay on the forum makes a lot of sense. And, yes that day will come for all of us.

Any idea how many miles you have traveled with your AS? What has been some highlights? Just curious.

Thanks and best wishes!

Yes, the hitch gets heavier every year, setting up and breaking down is slower and there are more aches and pains. Towing a couple of hundred miles seems like an eternity and those cross country trips are becoming a distant memory. Adjusting as we age is not easy. Our bodies don't always obey our minds.

Sorry to hear that time to sell your trailer has come. I've been reading your posts for a very long time and hope to see more.

If you're like me, the bad memories of traveling fade quickly (sometimes becoming humorous before fading) and the good memories stay. Hold those good memories close.

You guys are not going to get rid of me this easy.

While I can't do it anymore I still want to and will enjoy reading what you all are up to and where.

Oh man, So many stories of perfect and trips from hell in my memory and we enjoyed them all. Best thing to take on a trip is your sense of humor.

Sitting in the middle of a 800 acre ranch all alone when a window shattered, raining, fridge crapped out and the batteries dying. Tarp the window, heat up the canned beans and continue to enjoy.

Forum rallies with a margarita ball. How we got back to the trailer we'll never know.

Loved every minute of it. I hope you all can and do as well.

More stories later. One thing us geezers can do is tell stories.

Courtesy parking reasons in effect and I hope you will stop in and hopefully we'll share stories and laughter.

OK, got some emails about selling the trailer.

If you want to save a few bucks and are willing to buy it fully stocked instead of stripped, cleaned and prepped for sale.

Call Uwe at Area 63 and tell him you are interested in Milo's trailer as is. If this helps you. Good.

Original outside and inside except for curtains and fridge. All water and electrical and gas systems replaced. So she looks original but the systems are new.

1960 22 footer Safari, land Yacht, International (Says so on the glued warranty and attached badging). Twin beds with an upper bunk bed and went on a Wally Caravan in the 60's to Mexico.

You are legend.

The memories blur, but the smiles never fade.

May we all have the good luck to travel as far, and the wisdom to know when to come home.

PS if you were pulling your Airstream on Hwy 138 near Landers/Flamingo Heights today.

That was me waving at you.

Thank you for being there for my last Airstreamer to Airstreamer wave.

Thanks for passing this on. Glad he got to Airstream right up to the end. There is a lot to be said for that.

So many I remember and probably even more Forum members I have forgotten have disappeared. Sometimes we learn their time was up. I think more often we never learn. Milo joined a year before I did and I never met him, but have read scores and scores of his posts.

I thought just yesterday of starting a thread “where have they gone?”. I guess that’s what you do when you are feeling your mortality. Anyone who wants to start that thread, be my guest. Just let me know.
