Los Gatos California used to have speed limit signs which added "1/2" before the "MPH." I remember one for "17 1/2 MPH" on a back road someplace. Got your attention.

Another example:

Have you noticed that government signs in recreation areas have lots of NO's and few WELCOME'S.

Sign MISSING... 'Skinny People ONLY'

The narrows at Slot Canyons at Somewhere, Utah.

The sign was missing. Our Blue Heelers fit. A scale was at the entry. (Just kidding.)

Call FIRST... Northwest Nevada Opal Mines

Northwest Nevada has Opal Mines and you pay to dig. $300 a day. But Call First.

The Telephone Number must have been covered with Black Tape. I wanted to get a look at the Opal Mine. To look, $300 or To Dig, $300. You could park overnight in the parking lot for Free. No ex Military Discount, but the rates could be flexible... just use your Dial Phone...0 for information.

Tempted to MOVE A SIGN?

Roxborough Park, Colorado. Between Castle Rock and Littleton, Colorado.

Uh.... how do we get back home? There was no Up or Down sign, just Left and Right.

I don’t know — isn’t this kind of “cool stuff inside — break in here”. I don’t advertise that I am armed. Like the element of surprise.

The fun bit was that I wasn’t armed at the time, but the reputation and rumors kept the bad guys in that old neighborhood away when word got around. Nowadays I don’t advertise.

Images for Funny Street Signs

I had to look on the Internet to find... Street Signs that we all could laugh at them and ourselves.

Images for funny street signs... 112 signs, 311 signs and so on.

Check them out and pick several for the rest of us to see. We all need a good laugh and an occasional hug in times like these.

I said look honey, That's a funny name for a women's shelter. She just glared at me without speaking.

How was I supposed to know it is a BAR?

That's bad . . . figured they were serving some local delicacy made from beaver meat, battered and deep fried, like 'gator is served in Florida.

What does beaver meat taste like, Ray?

"A little old man shuffled slowly into and ice cream parlor and pulled himself slowly, painfully, up onto a stool. After catching his breath, he ordered a Banana Split.

The waitress asked kindly, 'Crushed Nuts'? 'No' he replied. 'Arthritis'."

For Otra15: "What did the selfish Beaver say to the Deer that asked him to stop the flooding affecting her grazing grounds? Frankly, my Deer, I don't give a Dam."

The Internet is wonderful. Also full of Beaver Jokes. Many are dam funny. Now I want to gnaw on an Aspen on our next Boondocking Trip to Wyoming...

Signs: Bring some of your OWN

Being moved to Off Topic opens up the 'Signage used to distract, encourage or reinforce rules and laws when traveling.'

Please do not be discouraged. Some day there will be No Airstream RV Parks to compete with the Airstream Trailer Parks. NARVP and ATP options. Are there any signs available?

Signs are important to direct traffic INTO the Commercial Centers of small Towns... as well as to direct traffic AWAY. Cortez, Colorado does a magnificent job and if you use the Detour, you will miss the Silver Bean Airstream Coffee trailer. You also will miss the best Maverick Service Station with water, air, dump, lowest fuel prices and space to spend the evening on the edges of Metro Cortez.

Occasionally a Detour Sign, or Road Work sign is missed with one or more Orange Cones from last year's road work. In Boulder City, Nevada these signs seem to be folded up and leaned against the curb in the event Work is to Resume. No cones. The signs seem to be 30 inches across. Just enough to alert those with wide vehicles to swerve into the opposing lane of traffic.

Entering Henderson, Nevada from Boulder City, from the south on the Highway 515, is a sign for "Adopt A Highway' knocked over at a right angle with a... orange cone to prevent others from swerving off the road and by mistake... pull it back to being vertical. No doubt a disgruntled adoption of this section.

Before entering any business around your town/city/city park/play ground... there are lots of notices to follow. Most say CLOSED, but those Open... have a number of required notices to those who wander in. Be patient, there could be misspelled words and bad grammar.

So... I welcome those with Sarcasm, Humor and just poor Judgment. I am Guilty of those and more. That is what it takes to become an OTG Boondocker. Also... if you want the privacy of an Off the Grid Boondocking site... keep a pile of Grizzly Bear Attack Area: Beware signs.

We camp in peace and tranquility. Signs work. I add a sign that can be purchased as I type. GRRRRRrrrrrr

Use sophisticated screws.... as others may be needing your sign and do not carry a battery hand held MEGA Screwdriver that I use to tighten screws in our Airstream, up to and over 2 inches.

There are LOTS of signs on the Internet available. Even fake 'Bear Scat". Wow... now we are talking.
