Rental Tow Vehicle ???

Anyone know a company that rents trucks that are ready to tow? I rented a truck a few years back but I am having trouble finding one now. I want to take a trip with the Argosy but the girlfriends Jeep is iffy and I have no other option now... Any help is appreciated.

Uhaul has pick-up trucks at some locations for a daily rate of about $20. I'm not sure about the specs, but the ones that I have seen are 1/2 tons set up with a receiver hitch. You would have to check with them for their policy on towing with them, but it seems likely that they would allow it.

Rugged Rental in Salt Lake City. That's all I could find.

Try Enterprise, I've seen some of their trucks with hitches and brake controllers.

So I checked with Enterprise and they want $2300 for a month rental plus that only covers 3300 miles... Bummer. The search continues.

For an Argosy 22" of that age, why would you need a truck? That's a fairly light trailer, no?

This has come up a couple times...unfortunately, no one has been able to provide a great solution in the past. And when you're talking about needing it for a month and over 3300 miles, that's going to get even more expensive...

For $2,300 you could buy something or fix the Jeep.

Yeah I understand that $2300 is a waste. That's not an options at that price but at under $1000, it is looking better. I found out that Toyota rents their vehicles at select dealerships and for a Tundra for 1 month is less than $800. That might be the route. I need to find out if they have tow packages on them...

Another option I found is Hertz but their price is $1300. Still a bit too high.

andreasduess - it may be light but I can't pull it with my NIssan 350z. What are you suggesting?

m.hony - After I saw the $2300 figure, I actually offered my girlfriend the money for her Jeep. It is only valued around $2500 anyway. She is considering it, but then she would have to get a new car and take on payments. She isn't sure if that is what she wants to do yet...

Well I called Toyota and here is the deal.

I can only rent a Toyota Tacoma 4 cyl. which has a max towing ability of 3400 lbs according to the website. The employee I spoke with said it does come with a hitch receiver installed. Not sure about a built in brake controller. The cost for a one month rental is only $745 and comes with 3000 miles.

Not a bad deal but I cannot get a better truck through them. They don't rent a the 6 cyl ver nor do they rent the Tundra... Bummer again.

The Toyota Tacoma will not have an electric brake controller.

Good idea if I was staying local but for about 7000 miles that will get pricey...

UPDATE: I found a great website that allows people to rent their own vehicles and insures them. They have great rates and plenty of trucks. Also you can have long term rentals.

Did not do it. I tried but the perfect car in my area was already reserved. Seemed like a chill site tho...
