Recreation.gov???

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but here goes.

Is anyone else having problems getting on the Recreation.gov site?

I've been trying for the past two days and I keeping getting "This webpage is not available".

Nope, I got right on it. Using iPad and yahoo.

Tried to get on with my wife's iPad also tried my smart phone still can't get on. I'm getting the same error message on all three devices...

Put recreation.gov in your Google - or whatever you use search box.

Do the search and click on the link for recreation.gov that comes up.

That is what worked for me.

Since your computer (and probably the iPad) are using wifi in your home, with your smartphone try turning off wifi and using the cellular data network to see if the behavior is the same. If it's a routing problem for your home ISP it may be different with your phone provider.

Odd? Not found on Safari, Chrome and Firefox. I'll try later.

There was talk last year of updating the site and making an App for it.

It may be down for maintenance?

had my son try to get on from his home and he received the same "Web not Available" also tried using the phone not connected to the WIFI got the same result.

yes, just can't get on to recreation.gov.

Had no problems getting on to http://www.fs.usda.gov.

I tried calling the toll free number for Recreation.gov. ( 1-877-444-6777)
and just received a voice message (not helpful at all).

Instead of the URL, use the IP address and see if you get there. Just put
66.193.24.151 in the address bar instead of recreation.gov

If you still aren't getting there, purge your browser's cache file

If that doesn't work, you can try tracert. It's a little technical, but will tell you where it's stopping. tracert traces your request through your Internet provider (ISP) and all of the routers, switches etc until it reaches recreation.gov. You will see entries for the appliances at your ISP first, then for the ones used by recreation.gov. If it stops with your IP, the issue is with your hardware or ISP. Here's a sample, I've changed IP addresses to hide mine.

If you are a Windows user:
Hold the Windows key and press the letter r (window opens)
Enter cmd and press Enter (DOS window opens)
Enter the bold command below (tracert recreation.gov)
If it stops anywhere, that's where the problem is

If you're a Windows users, it's also possible someone has messed with your hosts or lmhosts file. (unlikely, but possible)
These would be located in
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
The date should be pretty old, 2009. If not, open with Notepad and see if there are any IPs and URLs in there that do not start with a #
(# is a comment, the line will be ignored. Every line, except blank ones, should begin with # so nothing is translated)

Are you using the same ISP and cell phone carrier?
