Did you ever see the record player that was in cars? We had a 60 Olds with a 45rpm player in the car. We put speakers out front and would sit on the hill at the beach and blast toons by the hour. killed the battery more then once. Had a re-verb in it too to give a really great sound.
now, that is old.

Saw one in a 59 Cadillac I was thinking of buying, back when I spent my money on old Cadillacs, but if you HAD one, that certainly is old...

Why did he die?
answer-- he bled to death of to put it in medical terms-- his heart stopped beating

Never saw a record player in a car. Didn't know it existed... I only go back to AM radio and 8-track. At least as far as I remember.

J.C. Whitney even offered LP players..
....we had only one radio station and it played my parents' music...
... I was desperate... So,
... we "found" speakers which were somehow removed from the HS football field... and a DC amp... how fortunate!
... by then cassettes and 8 track started to appear down in the dark, dark Louisiana swamps
... Gets kinda foggy after that.... but I recall driving in a buddy's pickup with the speakers blaring in the truck bed.....and we were not playing the local radio station.

..then, that was the 60's.. and no one remembers things who 'survived'.. or maybe we'd rather forget and forgive...

... doggone crazy kids...

To this day, I'm amazed I survived the '60s. My buds and I played with rockets--home made solid fuel. Spectacular flights when they worked. Equally spectacular explosions when they didn't. Amazing what you can do with scrap parts and asphalt.

Movie Stereotypes: When a woman is shown carrying groceries, why are the same two things sticking out of the always (paper) bag: A loaf of French bread and celery?

Because those are shapes of things the male movie directors think women should be thinking about?

I think you're right. Phallic symbolism.

Then she invariably drops the bag, spilling the oranges that were inside (but not shown). This is supposed to show how messed-up and scattered her life is without regular "French bread" and "celery."

Well, duh! For the French bread, it's because it's too long to fit all the way inside the bag! For the celery, I have no clue.

If it was phallic symbolism, it would be cucumbers.

Random Thoughts...or...

Let's see, old age, cold weather, and phallic symbols......

Raised in South Dakota, survived the 1960's...grad HS in '60. A friend of mine from San Francisco says if you remember the '60's you were not there. I remember only a very small bit. This covers the old age and cold weather.....

Oh, men make movies and always want to be represented....LOL. Amazing how they use a loaf of French bread..... like the fisherman in the booth.....such exaggerations.....

And, that covers the last topic...

Wash those cloth bags now and then, they'll be nice and clean. 😃

Only saw that weather mix twice in my life and both times preceded major blizzards. I hope you're somewhere warm and safe.

Retirement is that time in your life when you're not really sure if you have more time on your hands or if you're supposed to be someplace.
