I like smoke detectors... as they sail out into the woods.
I like them even better when hit with an ounce of No.8 lead shot as they sail out into the woods.
They do serve a purpose, of course. Still, you can have extras around for "frustration venting."

We were "alarmed" out of bed one night by a malfunctioning smoke detector... Talk about getting your heart rate up!
-Red, slightly worse for the wear...

Sometimes there is a good reason for beige sheets, like the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night.

Man, when you sit around recouping from surgery, and you're floating out there on the pain meds... I apologize for all the random posting everywhere on the forum today. Hoping its halfway coherent.
-Red, Casey Jones you better watch your speed...

Was talking with a friend from our church last night, and he asked who I had bought my Airstream from... Everybody that knows me knows the story of the rebuild, because I've had it all over Facebook... Anyway, he wanted to know if I'd bought it local, because his father had given him the Airstream they had camped in growing up, and HE SOLD IT??? He was wondering if I had bought his old airstream... The guy he sold his to drug it out into the woods for deer camp. Yes, you read that right, deer camp... The Airstream he had grown up with, camping with his family, that his father passed on to him, sold to a guy that set it up in the woods to be used only during deer season. That hurts just typing it...
Which got me thinking about mine... I've decided to be cremated in mine now. Too much blood, sweat, and tears have gone into The LoveStream (tm) to allow one of my kids to sell it to some yutz that would drag her off into the woods to be used as a hunting camp... I've got nothing against hunting, do it myself on occasion, and certainly nothing against camping, but what a waste of an awesome trailer. Buy an old fiver with slide outs if you want a cabin... These things are made to tow down the road, and if I can't count on that, then burn it with me.
-Red, cautiously pessimistic...

Deer camp is such a waste of an AS that really needs to be on the road. Sigh.

My Airstreams have all been deer camps, antelope camps, and bear camps. BUT, I pulled them out to hunt in and then back home again. They never sat out in the woods without me being right there with them.
However, as disgusting as that part of Red's story sounds, I think the real heartbreaker is the fact that the guy sold a family heirloom.
Evidently, he was sorry about it, later, but by then it was too late.
I suppose we all do things we regret later. I should have bought my dad's early '70s vintage AS after he died in '87, but it was in pretty bad shape, and back then I didn't know you could restore them.
I was married and living elsewhere when he custom ordered it, so I had no history at all with it. However, knowing what I know now, I wish I had it and would have paid someone to restore it.
I only hope it went to someone like you guys here on the forum who loves it. I, too would be saddened to find it rotting away as a deer camp in the woods.

I guess it's not the deer camp part as much as making a cabin out of an Airstream, and, selling the Airstream you grew up camping in. Maybe I'm just sensitive on the subject...
Supposed to get well below freezing here in North Florida tonight... hope y'all have everything ready.
-Red, enjoying the cool weather while it lasts...

I've been exiled to the "Random Thoughts" thread... all because I can't keep from posting comical responses. Man, if y'all knew how much gets filtered, I'd get an award or something. Poor me...
Well, I guess it's for the best. Locked down in funny man jail. It's almost like reliving ninth grade all over again. Class clown gets no respect.
Nobody knows the trouble I see'd...
-Red, planning his escape...

Some folks take life way too seriously. You're never going to get out alive, so you might as well have some fun.
I do have a serious side, but I can't find it very often. It's a lot more fun being the Class Clown.
I have to hand it to you, Red. This thread has been a lot of fun.
